Well I see many of you having lots of doubts about Salou, I'm spanish and working in salou, born 7 miles far from it so... feel free to ask and i'll help u the best I can
Lluis
I know Salou is not an upmarket resort but I still think its a great place. Beautiful seafront, great beaches and rocks, nice atmosphere.
I actually prefer the area around the Eurosalou & California Palace.
Always used to stay in the area of the Venecia Park but that area seems to have gone downhill alot, I hope they have some plans to invest in this part of town?
Anyway, I'm very envious of you living in Salou!
I also like visiting in late November and getting the entire beach and prom to myself
On Venecia PArk area there are no plans... very close to it but on the opposite of the sea port aventura has built 3 golf resorts to play it so that's what it will become in few years some golf resort maybe...
We usually do not apreciatte what we have until we do not have it... Like sun or beach so... yes I'm lucky but couldn't notice till 2 years ago when I was living in another country lol.
We want to visit Barcelona so could you tell us whats the best way to get there bus/train, timetables, where we get the bus or train?
I've heard that they have a fountain show at the fountains in Barcelona so was wondering what time the show starts at and would we still be able to get a bus or train back to Salou once the show had finished?
Any other info you could provide would be very much appreciated like things to do, places to see, nice restaurants.
Thanks.
Train company is Renfe renfe.es (its site) you can check schedules and everything there. the train takes arround 1h:20. In barcelona you should stop in Passeig de Gracia (not in Sants) despite majority of people will stop in Sants passeig de gracia is just in the middle of the town. I guess the only buss company that makes the trip from Salou to Barcelona is plana (very crappy one...) so.. try to use train. by the way the train runs next to the coast when you go try to sit on right side and when comming back try to sit on left one
I'm not sure about fountain show (i guess you mean something going to Montjuich) I'll check and tell you something...
1) Kettle
2) Toaster
The reason i am asking this is that the thomas cook book says kettles and toaster are supplied but the hotel review says different and i phoned the hotel up last night and they said there is kettles in the room but you have to hire toaster's , Microwave's And Tv's from them i am not to bothered about not having a microwave or tv can live without them for 2wks . So i went into thomas cook and asked and they said no if it is booked by them then there will be a kettle and toaster in the room. Have any of you booked through thomas cook for this apartment's and got what was stated in the brochure. Is the thomas cook telling the truth or are they not is what i want to know. As i hate the thought of booking up with a travel agent and not get what i am paying for in the room and i dont want to really hire a toaster from the hotel at 15 euro's per week if i can help it as it is costing me enough to book the holiday at £1255 for 2wks next year then find out that i have to hire things from the hotel.
When i am a single parent trying to save up and give my girls a holidays as it is.. The beach can to you tell me how close it is to these apartmets if you know and can you get sunbeds down at the beach and how much are they for hire. I know i will have more quistions to ask you before i go away at the end of next june so i will leave you with just these one for now

spanish_80 is a local resident who can perhaps provide you with info about the immediate vicinity, if you tell us the name of the apartments, but this may not be the best topic to ask for advice from other holidaymakers who have booked the apartments through Thomas Cook.
David
Sorry David for putting it on this topic but i have tried on another topic. Sorry i meant to say the apartmets are called the international 11 apartments. And as spanish_80 lives in the area i thought she may have heard some good points about the apartments.
That's rightI live here I can help you with transportation, what to visit, special beaches or fields or mountains or whatever but on apartments the only I can do for you is check where are they located and tell you about neighborhood, what sort of beach is close to it or supermarkets... by the way if they ask you 15€ x week for hiring a toaster... it'll be cheaper or you to buy one than pay for it during 2 weeks...
About the appartmets you checked they are located on a quiet area
Hi Spanish_80 i have not checked if the apartments are in a quiet area i know they are one 30mins away from the theme park which is great. But as for the street they are located in i dont know much about that if there is a supermarkets near by or good night life close by that i dont have to walk too far too what with 2 young girls with me (8 , 14) good place to take kids into with good entertainment that will suite them. If you could find out some things for me that would be great and thank you for the tip about maybe having to buy a toaster while i am out there that might be cheaper than the apartments
As I've seen many of you do not know a lot about Salou I've decided to get a map from salou and I'll paint on it where is theme park where are the bars and shops supermarkets... and some other important stuff... the problem... I'm moving to another flat and I won't have internet at home and I can't do that at job :p
Thank you Spanish_80 the map would be great as and when you have the time and good luck with the move hope you have a easy move to your new flat wish i was living in salou all the time but sadly not

About aquatic parks... costa caribe closes the 14th of september and Aquopolis in La pineda is opened till 10th of october. What I can recommend you is to visit Port aventura in october they do halloween special so it's related with halloween It can be interesting for you.
What else you can do in salou is... whatever you can Imagine. For cultural visits you can go to tarragona and see their roman stuff which is world Heritage by unesco... also you can move to barcelona or you can just stay and rest in Salou going to the beach (free entrance lol) or just clubbing going to bars walking or whatever you can imagine.
cheers
