Skin-So-Soft Soft & Fresh Dry Oil Body Spray
Can I just confirm, is this instead of or as well as pukka insect repellent?
BTW It's two quid a throw at the moment.
Cheers
GW
I've not been to Goa yet, but would use insect repellant as well as the Skin so Soft. I used Avon After Sun with Insect Repellant earlier this year in Corfu, then a spray with 50% DEET. I didn't get bitten. I intend to use the Avon Skin So Soft shower gel as well as the rest in Goa as the little blighters usually like me.
Avon skin so soft does work for a limited time on Scottish midgies, but you have to apply it much more frequently than a DEET based product, but obviously better for you. We bought a lemongrass based repellent in Goa at the Elephant shop in Candolim a couple of years back and that worked well.
hiya polly i used the skin so soft woodland fresh, and it worked brilliant i didnt use any repellant at all, as for the repellant with DEET you can buy it in all the local shops whilst your in goa and its good and it only costs pennys
Thanks Maggie. Does the ones in Goa have 50% DEET? That is the only one that's ever worked for me.
hi all we swear by avon the one thet works against mossies was called woodland fresh but its now changed name to soft & fresh anita
Avon Skin-So-Soft was recommended to us in a free book supplied by Thomson when we visited Sri Lanka in 1996.
It says:
'An excellent mosquito deterrent is (believe-it-or-not) Avon's 'Skin-so-soft' bath oil spray. It's highly effective. Even sand flies will keep their distance.'
Every lady in our hotel smelled the same at night. LOL
I've used it before we go out at night on every holiday since and have been bitten very few times, even though we've been to a lot of places that had loads of mosquitos.
Of course, the formula has changed since then, it was quite oily, but now they've changed to the dry oil spray.
I find it's just such a great moisturiser, too.
I mentioned this recommendation to my Avon rep at the time and she agreed, then went on to say that it had all sorts of other uses.
It's supposed to remove tar from your car when you've driven over a road that been newly rechipped.
But of course, Avon wouldn't want to market a beauty product and say it does loads of other things too, I guess.
I use Avon SSS as a moisturiser after I've applied after-sun and then finish off with Autan Tropical Mosquito Repellent.
I get very few bites, even when most people are bitten badly.
