In spite of having been to Thailand many times, I still havent been to Ayutthaya. I would elcome advice on whether a day trip will be worth it please.
Assuming that I do decide to go any advice on the best way to get there for three adults and 2 young kids. I understand that the journey is about 2hrs from Bangkok, and dont fancy a train. Anyone know of any tours that I can check online or know about a taxi/minibus that will take all of us ? cost that sort of thing ?

Went to Ayutthaya many years ago....up by coach then relaxing cruise down the river back to Bangkok...I think its well worth the trip, although the one I was on was a little to regimented for my liking.

I agree a super day- really enjoyed the journey down the river-
We did the coach there and boat back as well. We also stopped at the Summer palace on the way there. Well worth it!
