Unfortunately it wasn't the holiday that was intended when we booked it. I had been unwell( a recurring illness) and for a while had thought we would have to cancel. But things got a bit better and we decided to go and just relax. It certainly did me the world of good

The BA flight out- same problems with the AVOD system as when we went to India- it wouldn't work for ages and they had to keep reloading it. The meal was rubbish- I think its gone downhill recently. On the way back I couldn't get volume without continually having to fiddle about with the connection for the earphones, the dinner was better, cabin was far too hot( a familiar problem with BA) but I did sleep for a lot of the flight and it actually landed 25 mins early!
The new BKK airport-
I was really impressed with it. Ignore all the taxi touts with their ridiculous prices and claims you will have to wait ages in the taxi queue. When you join the taxi queue you will find you will be given a ticket with your taxi drivers name, the destination and the price( there is a desk there). We waited less than 5 minutes for a taxi. It cost 450 bahts - that was with the 50baht surcharge and also the tolls are all paid. On the way back we had a good wander round the shops- there are absolutely loads and plenty places to eat and drink. Far better than the old airport. A great bonus is that it took us a fraction of the time to get to the landmark- 20 minutes to get there when we arrived at midnight and the same to get back there at 11am.
Will continue later this evening( sleeps - this is to keep you happy
