Visitors to the UK should be aware that the Bank of England £20 notes with Edward Elgar on them will cease to be legal tender at the end of this month http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/twentyv/index.htm
They have been gradually withdrawing them for some time so there aren't many around but foreign banks may still be issuing them in currency exchanges - don't accept them if you'll need them after June 30th.
May be worth anyone in Scotland and Northern Ireland who has saved English notes for their next visit (rather than have yet another argument with badly trained English/Welsh shop staff.....) to check which type they have.
But do check with your own bank, as you said there isnt many of these note left anyway.
I haven't seen many of them lately to be honest, I work in a shop and haven't really seen them for a while. Although bizarelly we often on occasion get people with old five pound notes, not sure where they are coming from!
I had an embarassing moment recently where they wouldn't accept my old £20 notes! I didn't even know that they were old. Oops!
