please help if you can, we are moving to goa within the next year and need to know how easy or difficult it is to getting a bank account.
has anybody opened an account with either hdfc or icici banks
we have had dealings with hdfc since january and we have been waiting for cheque books and a letter to take to the embassy in london but we keep getting pushed to one side .
any advice which may help would be gratefully recieved.
thanks
Mike and carol
We are currently in the process of buying somewhere so on the off-chance we went to Icici bank in Leicester. they were very helpful and we have opened an account there. Our account is actually based in Goa but we will receive cheque books etc over here. we were told it should take about 4 weeks before we can transfer cash into the account. the cheque book will be in Rps so making life easier for paying for things in Goa.
Hope this helps.

hi mike i have sent you a pm also its worth looking in ex pats forum
We have an account with HDFC in Calangute. It was painless to open and seems surprisingly efficient we even get regular staements in the UK and have a cheque book. Ask for Arnold he is very helpful.
