Flight Only / Airline and Airports

We went to Barcelona for a long weekend 4 years ago and I have to say I don't remember any problems with luggage collection or check in. I'm not sure which terminal it was but I remember we had to walk down some stairs for baggage collection and it wasn't long before we got our case. There's an ATM in the concourse once you come out of arrivals if you need cash.

Here's the airport website - http://www.barcelona-airport.com/ that might help a bit.

Pippa, I love terminal B at Barcelona! Fantastic shopping, reasonably priced coffee and sandwiches and all bright and shiny and new! The only problem is that BA's places are a long, long way from the terminal. You get the bus that drops you off but for us it has always been at the opposite end of the terminal (and it is huge) to where our baggage reclaim. This means a good long walk, probably ten minutes when the terminal is busy.

One flight the baggage was there ready and waiting when we arrived at reclaim, another we waited 15 minutes but generally around a five minute wait.

There are two baggage reclaims at terminal B, at opposite ends of the terminal but just check the screens for which one you need when you actually get into the terminal building.

On your return, it's not a bad place to relax and get a meal after a long drive and BA's check in desks are roughly in the middle of the terminal. Security is not the onerous task it can be at some European airports and we were there last October when the security alerts were at their worst. Found all the staff at the airport to be friendly and helpful.

One other thing about Barcelona airport....when the plane lands it probably travels at a high speed along the runway for what seems like forever but is more like five minutes before finally coming to a halt. It's a massive airport but as far as airports go a decent one.

Thank you so much for all that useful information.

We are used to Palma Airport where there is always a long walk to the gates and to baggage reclaim. We always say a little bit of exercise before or after a flight is a good thing!! It also means that normally you do not have to wait long for your baggage.

Thanks again,
Pippa
