Don't want to dispute your recomendation, but this is not really a guide, it's for people who are prepared to pay A2Z for an entry. Moreover if the section for Magalluf is anything to go by, it's way out of date.

There are 3 bars listed for Magalluf, one has closed down (Magalluf Showbar) the second is way out of date (Arfur's Bar changed hands last year), and although the 3rd (Mrs Doyle's) is fairly up-to-date, the site is hardly representative of Magalluf Bars!!! They wanted 100 euros for me to put a link on their site - I said no, and they wouldn't even put an entry in for my bar.

There are much better sites for information on Bars.

Hello Adam, you are the one in the know more than me, I did put at the start of my post that a ( few years ago ) and have not been for a few years.
The payment for an entry is a bit of a con, but you could say the same for most holiday guide books, most of these only list some of the bars/restaurants and shops so is it the same for them, the more you pay the more guide books/websites you get on.
I put this up in good faith to help people going to Mallorca as there is always someone asking about certain bars or resorts, as you say it is out of date but it does give some of us a bit of a guide to what is on offer, I found it very helpful a few years ago when I went to Cala D or, perhaps you could put up a good pub guide for Magalluf/Palma Nova starting with your own ready for when me the wife, daughter and grandkids hit Mallorca.

Looking on the http://www.a2zmallorca.com front page it says you can list your business for 35 euros (not 100) -- seem well worth it to me -- As to bars in Mallorca, some change hands more often than they change the menu, so I suppose its not that easy to keep up to date -- Also as TRH says there is a lot of information in the site plus a front page editorial that is updated every few days -- I use it often to get the weather info and check it out on the webcam http://www.a2zmallorca.com/detail/2500.htm

I wasn't being critical of your posting, I just wanted to make it clear that it was a "paid for" guide, which is rarely representative of the wide selection of Bars and Restaurants in Magalluf. Maybe the rest of the Web Site is fantastic - although I doubt it.

I'm not saying it's a c o n (never know why the system censors that word) but I personally don't believe it's very good value for money. I used to publish an Entertainment Guide in UK some years ago, and I actually gave every Entertainment venue a free listing. Doing this meant you had a truly comprehnsive guide which everyone wanted to read, and you then made your "profit" by upgrading entries at a premium. If I had the time to host a Pub Guide then that's what I would do, and I'm pretty sure that it would be more popular than the A2Z "Guide" with it's 1 accurate entry!

You may think 35 euros is good value. I assume you don't run a bar in Magalluf. I can think of dozens of things I'd rather spend 35 euros on, and it seems like I'm in the majority.

Thank you for correcting me on the price of an entry on their site, but if you re-read my posting I think you'll find I was talking about the cost of a link. I told them that I'd want a link both in the Bar Guide and the eating section, and I was quoted a figure of 100 euros. If you think it's important enough you might like to tell them that they have mis quoted me. Having seen the shambles of a site that they run, I wouldn't want a link from their site for free, and I certainly wouldn't give them a link back from my web site.

I don't dispute what you say about their information pages and weather info, but the heading of this thread was Bars, and I think it falls well short of the mark in the quality of it's guide.
