Hello! I will be holidaying in Egypt (Sharm) for the first time this summer, and the idea of bartering makes me feel a wee bit uncomfortable! I've never had to do it before as I have visited mainly European countries. The thing I don't understand is that people have said they barter in the hotel supermarket, but surely items there are already priced?! Are there any instances where it wouldn't be appropriate (e.g. when booking trips etc.) and is it really expected? How much lower should you go? (I'm always very mindful of the fact that it is a poor country, so I'll probably be hopeless!) The other thing is that do young kiddies pay for boat trips etc. Not sure if there are child reductions like in the UK and I don't want to get completely ripped off!!
Thanks for reading.
As for how much less, well i try to work out what i think is value inc their profit or halve their price and then increase your offer if you really want it, hope that is of some help
Thanks phyll!
