The beach in Stegna is ideal for children of any age, my 3 year old spent two weeks in it! Stegna is very quiet with aprox 15 tavernas selling delicious local food. There is one bus out of the village and one back every day, so can feel a little bit isolated. I hired a car from the company in stegna for 25 euros a day and had no problems.

I went there last June and it looked like a very gentle slope to the beach and a few younger ones were well out. It wasn't crowded and looked clean. The main road at the top of the beach was so busy the cats were laid in the centre of it to cool off. You might see ten cars an hour in the rush hour.
