Hi joolz, just to point out Menorca isn't a very lively island.I've been to two resorts there - Cala Galdana which has a breath taking horseshoe bay and soft white sandy beach, however there are only a few bars and shops other than beach and hotel amenities theres not much to do. There's two hotels on seafront Audax spa+ wellness centre hotel + Hotel sol Gavilanes. Cala n Bosch is a much livelier resort set around a harbour with lots of places to eat and drink with a little shopping precint. The beach is located 2 minutes from the harbour and is more than adequate. You can catch a bus into Cuitadella which is well a visit - only fifteen minutes away and 1.20 euro. There are several hotels on the seafront which looked really nice. Siesta Playa is one. There are lots surrounding the resort and some looked four star plus - very nice. If Cala Galdana could be moved to Cala n Bosch it would be the perfect holiday. Hope this helps, we have booked this year for Punta Prima in August - we are touring the island and by 2020 we should have seen most of it. Good luck in your hunt but you won't go wrong with Menorca

Well I think Cala Galdana is perfect just the way it is...There are ample bars and restaurants and I'm sure the sol gavilanes would be perfect for you and your hubby.
There is entertainment at both the sol gav and good entertainment at the cala galdana hotel too, and often they have some form of entertainment in the square also. It is a beautiful resort...go for it!

I was going to suggest Cala Galdana too, although I haven't actually stayed there, only visited for lunch on a coach tour.

The adults only Thomson Gold Hotel in Menorca (Castell Playa in Arenal D'en Castell) is not beach front, but up lots of steps and a hill...so I don't think that is what you are looking for Although they run a courtesy bus to the beach every hour.....and it has got stupendous views of the bay

Hi gillyi, i totally agree Cala Galdana is beautiful just stating the fact that Cala n Bosch as alot more things to do. Depends on what sort of holiday your looking for if its a quiet/relaxing holiday Cala Galdana would not be beaten. Give me Cala Galdana anytime LOVE the place

Thanks folks, und3ecided at the moment (very early days!!) but have saw a hotel in Arenal, it's in Thomson Gold brochure, it's name escapes me at the moment.

I think you will be disappointed with Arenal, all hotela are on top of hill. Beach is nice, but there are far better ones, also not many bars etc to go to in the evenings. Suggest you consider Cala Galdana, Son Bou has the largest beach in Menorca, good resort, plenty of choice of bars, restaurants. There is a hotel right on the beach, but stayed in San Valentin hotel many times, sadly they have changed tis year to All Inclusive, so not sure it will be as good now. It is at the top of a very steep hill, but a courtesy bus operates throughout the day to beach, recommend car hire though in Menorca, so many lovely beaches to go to and places to see.

Also consider S'Algar, again S'Algar hotel is on the seafront and mainly used by adults, has very good reputation for food lovely pool by the sea, but S'Algar does not have a beach, also San Luis Hotel in S'Algar is further back in the village. If you are lookig for quiet, spotlessly clean resort then S'Algar is for you. Have stayed there many times over the years, but always in a villa or apartment and hired a car. Good restaurants in resort.

Calan Bosch not for me, too commercialised now, used to be lovely.
