hi
I have been told to keep off the beach at dawn and dusk as there are some kind of sand flies which bite and do not heal very well, also on return to the Uk to seek medical help. Has anyone else heard of this as it doesnt seem to be mentioned on the forum so am a bit sceptical! Any replies would be appreciated as am taking kids with me
(only a week to go BLISS!)

I most certainly have heard of this! Pesky things sand flies . I've been to Tunisia 10 times and the only bites I've had have been from sand flies. Having said that it was only the one time. Also a friend of mine went riding on the beach one evening and collected quite a few of these bites and they did turn a bit nasty. They can be quite painful, itch like mad and are usually small, round, red bumps. I found one of those zanza click things quite useful for relieving the effects.
But - I really wouldn't worry too much. Like I said I've only experienced this once, and biting insects seem to love me !
Am sure you'll have a fantastic holiday

Was hoping to take kids riding on the beach but i dont think i'll bother now! better to be safe than sorry especially with them as something like that could turn it into a holiday nightmare
6 days and 11 hours to go - not that i am counting
