Hiya Chris.

If your friend has walking difficulties, then in my opinion, forget Benalmadena.

Hi Sanj

I was going to pm you as i was reading some of your posts the other day.

Well she can walk but not very far and she uses a stick sometimes.

She always manages in Tenerife.

I'm also looking at doing a diy as the holidays are to expensive with tour operators.

Hotels Triton, Riviera, Alay and Villa Sol are all at beach level and are close to the marina.

San Fermin, Minerva & Jupiter wouldn't be suitable due to steep gradients to/from the beach.

thanks for that pm AguilaMike

i can't pm you back as i'm not allowed.

I will have a look at those hotels.

Are they all near the nightlife.

Mike.
The Alay is set back behind the marina on a small hill, the Triton and Riviera front entrances are off the main road and I think the Riviera uses a lift to get down to beach level...infact walking anywhere from the marina means walking up an incline...except if you go past the port and into La Carihuela.
The main road walking from the windmill roundabout starts off at beach level then slowly gets steeper as you walk towards the hotel Riviera and Triton. :hmmm
Even walking to Paloma Park from the windmill roundabout means walking up a steep incline, passed the Sunny Beach apartments
I've walked it enough times, so I should know an hill from an incline.

:D Hi chris

I've been to benalmadena, and to be honest wouldn't recommend it to anyone with walking difficulties, (or to anyone who likes decent nightlife - lol! - but thats another story).

My parents go to fuengorolla (Spelling), which is the next resort to benalmadena (only a few miles away) as my dad had a leg amputed a few yrs ago (But refuses to be in a wheelchair), they like it here as it's relatively flat, and he can get out and about.

Hope you get sorted. BBB.

Chris,
Sorry but I can say nothing wrong about Benalmadena !!!

I have a lung disease which is not terminal but causes me to have problems climbing hills, steps etc. BUT, I have had no problems in Benalmadena. With lots of help from the various forums and the members I was able to get a list of suitable places to stay.I always used hotels, but during the past few years we have found self catering more paramount in our needs, also most restaurants and bars anywhere in Benalmadena are very in- expensive.

Also please note that Benalmadena has a fantastic bus route throughout the town and areas.Very cheap and easy to use,so cheap in fact that I never climb any hills, but I can walk down hills no problem. On our first visit we stayed at the Benalmadena Palace Apartments/hotel which is at the far end of Benalmadena and is perched at the top of this monsterous hill (very steep)BUT I could still walk to the marina at the other end of Benalmadena, have few beers and still walk back, yes the hill was a night mare but I made it, in fact I DID IT MY WAY !!!

No doubt you will find something suitable, but like I say Benalmadena is the place to be.It has everything you could wish for.I will be back in Benalmadena at least twice this coming year.Good luck.

I have to agree with GDE.

We have friends in their 70's who have been going to Benalmadena for the last 26 years. When the going gets tough, they hop on an Orange bus.

I'm 63 years of age and have also been going for many years. I don't find the hills a problem, except perhaps Avda Telefonica (known locally as "Cardiac Hill"). This is a route from the San Fermin down to the marina. It's OK going down but very hard work going back up again.

I can't comment on other hotels but make sure you don't book the Bali in Benalmadena!
It's a great hotel and we are going back in the summer but it is on a very steep hill!

Likewise the Siroco is also on a very steep hill.

there is far more night life in benal than fuengarola,i my opinion.more choice.THe London pub on the front is pretty rough if your not used to being in crowds, not my cup of tea sorry

I own an apartment in the Jupiter/Minerva complex and I can assure you there is not a saturn complex!
There is a Jupiter and Saturn complex in Alcudia Majorca.

Hi folks....
My wife and I are wanting to go to the Hotel Las Piramides, which would appear to be in Fuengirola. However someone at her work has recommended Benalmedina. Can someone tell me if these two places are far apart ? I know my way around Majorca ok but this area is a total mystery to me. Also I have friends who will be staying at Benalmedina Pueblo at same time and would like to meet up with them. Is this feasible ?
