We stayed at the Grupohotel Turquesa Mar, Cala'n Bosch in September this year, myself, my wife and our 2 kids aged 12 and 16. . Hotel was brilliant - staff were great, reception staff even remembered our kid's names. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The All Inclusive was fabulous value and coupled with the quality of the fittings and rooms, I can understand why Thomson are putting it in their best brochure. All the staff were great, nothing too much trouble for them.
Pool is nice if a bit cold but that applies anywhere I guess. Plenty of sunbeds and shades so no worries there.
Food was really good - great varied selection every day and beer and wine of an evening was on tap. Of course Cala'n Bosch is THE resort to go to for all the family.
Overall fantastic holiday and we are definitely considering going back again especially as the resort is so central for visiting Ciutadella or a bit further afield
Sat down with the family today with details of calan de bosch and the paradise club hotel which nearly all approved apart from two members.
One group member said that their daughter went to calan de bosch last year and said it is a very very quiet resort with nothing to do :?, no enertainment on the night...
Then they said, we should go to Alcudia in Majorca
I have been to the resort before and wasn`t that keen to be honest, he said there`s loads of things to do during the day and night.
We are getting together in the week to vote which resort to book
1. calan de bosch, or
2. Alcudia
Gutted, what should I say to convince them??
thanks
It's got to be Cala'n Bosch!!!
How old was the daughter that went and said there was nothing to do? If she was with a group looking for an 18-30's holiday then I'd agree it's probably not ideal for that type of holiday. Also what time of year was it? If it was very early or late in the season perhaps not everything was up and running. Admittedly it's probably a quieter resort than many in Majorca but in my opinion there's plenty to do especially as you're travelling as a large group. As I said before you have loads of restaurants, several bars playing live music. \i've heard there's a karaoke bar there too now if that's your thing. Also just across from the Paradise Club in the marina they have a bandstand in the middle of a few of the bars which is lovely to sit at and watch the children dancing away to the music, a really safe and lovely environment for them.
You have the local buses to explore a bit of the island if you don't want to hire a car. The island is very picturesque. Nice beaches and lovely walks around the resort.
Although I haven't been to the Paradise Club yet it seems to have a really good entertainment programme for all ages so there should be enough to keep everyone happy I'd have thought.
What more could you want???!!!
You wouldn't drag me to Alcudia (no offense to those who love it ).
Calan Bosch isnt a loud resort as I have previously mentioned but there is plenty to do. During a two week stay, we never had a night where we were bored. There are loads of restaurants and numerous bars (the Don Carlos is worth a visit and stays open until the early hours, and a visit to the Shamrock is recommended as well). Most hotels offer evening entertainment and, as long as you are purchasing drinks, most will allow you to go into their hotels and watch their evening entertainment. There are bus stops all around the resort taking you into Cuitadella and from there onwards to Mahon etc. If you hire a car, the roads (I am told) are easy to navigate.
I love Majorca and have visited all over the island, but Menorca is better and retains a lot of its Spanish charm (and has the added bonus of no lager louts)

have you looked at cala n forcat, three gorgeous little beaches although not easy to get to if any of your party have walking difficulties or you have prams, although there is another decent sized beach about 10 mins walk away in cala n blanes, forcat has a water park, plenty of decent places to eat (most have a play area for the younger ones)and for the grown ups the nightlife is quite good without it being overbearing, the main square comes to life at 9-30ish with live tribute bands, chinese acrobats etc a good night for all the family and so laid back and finally for the adults there are music bars which stay open till the very early hours .hope this helps
forgot to mention you said earlier you had two dates in mind sept+june would personally go for june island is gearing up for the feste de son joan which is a huge festival in the the old city and menorca has a very short season may start to wind down in sept, you also mentioned a friends daughter said nightlife was very quiet in cala n bosch ask her did she find the big apple in the cap d atriux area of cala n bosch which is a karaoke bar which changes to disco at midnight and stays open till 4am
