i actually got locked in a back street chemist, thought that was gonna be it.
But he opened the door as i said i need some more money got to buy nappies for kids .i ran for my life past lots of egyptian men, spitting at me as i was a woman on my own, admittedley i didnt stay in nama bay(busy main tourist area) but about 10 mins outside, here it was not safe at all.I stayed at the beach albatros hotel.
another thing to watch some men stand on the side of the rd asking you to sign their guest book,as they have just opened a new shop...it is rubbish once you go to the shop, they vanish ,and another guy sits you down offers you tea and tries to sell you stuff.
and be majorley sceptical of jewelery shops,i went into a proper jewlers in nama bay, they have all different gems in the windows and can make rings while you wait with your chosen gem,i picked a beautiful topaz, clearly said is it real......oh yes madam only real gems, real topaz,i was chuffed to bits at £20...i thought back home it would cost a hundred or something.
when i got home to uk, i took it to be valued they used a machine to check clarity etc, then to tell me it is paste, i said whats paste they said glass!!!bloody people....
so beware!!they all hassle you to come into their shops if you want to go in to look around fine but when they hassle you it puts you off going in they turn people away without knowing!.....
sharm is a great place to dive and the fish amazing this will be my memory of sharm,.....also i would avoid taking kids to egypt as everyone but every one gets the soup poo.
