Our 4th time in Goa and probably our best yet. Even though i might need a liver transplant ! (spike and dee too blame)
Flew out on the 18th of March from Gatwick with Qatar, stopping over in Doha for a couple of hours. No complaints here. Wonderfull planes with loads to keep you occupied on the seatback tvs. Free drinks and a choice of menu ! Arrived on time, a bit of a queue to get visa stamped but sailed through baggage reclaim to my awaiting taxi driver Dinesh.
Arrived at the Coqueiral in Candolim around 4.30am to find the place locked up for the night ! After a wee hunt around i found the security guard who after a lengthy chat eventually took us too our room. Well right away i knew the mrs wasnt happy but as it was the middle of the night i said we would have to wait till morning to sort something out. I was shown another larger room but with no A/C . No good to me in March. Very hot. So off i went in search of some where to stay.I viewed 6 0r 7 places and finally settled on the Horizon View at thetop of Whispering Palms road. Paid 1250rps per night but had everything i needed. Large bright room with Digital A/C (freezing ! ) LCD tv,large fridge and the comfiest bed i have ever had in Goa. A ceiling fan aswell but never used much as this coupled with the A/c would have given us bloody frostbite ! Wife was so happy she had agreed to go back next year but on condition we stay here.
Normally its 14 days on the beach at Ganesh shack but this year we had a day at Mandrem beach, using the Sea paradise shack. Good clean beach with a nice set up. The shack and the restraunt working together to cater for your every need. Also spent a night down south in Cavellossim. Stayed at the Sau Domingo which was ok. Pricier than Candolim though. Ate at Mikes place in Cavellossim. Probably the best place i ate in all holiday. The next day we went on Bettys cruise. Out into the sea dolpin spotting before sailing well up the river before stopping for lunch. Large fresh prawns in garlic butter sauce followed by a large portion of Kingfish which was shown to us before being sliced up and cooked ! Drinks included, it was a tenner per head well spent.
I had noted down the restraunts i visited but cant seem to find it so the places i remember visiting were Kim Faa, Baga, chineseand very verygood. Mrs Blunoses favourite.
Foxes in Candolim, superb steak.
Cecilias in Candolim, nice Kingfish but portion not very big.
Inferno. Went here twice.Once for a curry and once for a sizzler. Very nice.
Infantaria in Calangute, rubber garlic bread but nice chinese style main meal. place could do with a coat of paint though.
Delhi Durbar in Panjim. Superb meal in nice place after a mad hour on the sunset cruise with phil and dee(spike). Sore sides from laughing that night.
Went to the meet on the 23rd and had way too many coffees! That Spike again ! Great night and was good to see Polly again and Mike. Chilly absent, probably remembers what happened the last time she got together with my mrs Ray and Gail (GEC) joined us (very brave) along with new faces, well to me anyway, irish colleen, Gemma, irishnoel and o/hs. Some others too but cant remember names. (coffee !) Will post some pics soon from the meet.
Visited the Saturday night market along with Spike ,GEC & o/hs. First time for me and enjoyed very much. Again , too much coffee. Can you see the connection here ? Spike..........too much coffee
Didnt make the 2nd meet as Jackie was feeling a bit under the weather and didnt want a late night.
We decided to have a quiet drink sitting at the roadside in the Spice Garden. The next thing is a tuktuk pulls up and out pops Spike and Dee. Well what can i say. Stayed to watch Gunners v Barcelona and before we knew it, it was 5am Got escorted home by the resident dog, Simba. No other dog came near us. It was amazing to see.Feeding it titbits all night certainly paid off !
Spent most of our days at Ganesh shack and would like to thank the team once again. Met Maz here the first week. That girl needs to get out more. Very shy and not much to say for herself
Roll on next year.
Great report billy, what a shame about the first hotel, glad you found somewhere nice to stay. Looking forward to seeing your pics. :)) Gel

Great report Billy its good to see a few reports going on from the ones who have just come home I love reading what everyone does when they are away and where they have went I put them on my list of things to do next time gives you something to look forward too ....
Great report Billy. Was great to catch up with you at last. Maybe see you and Mrs BBN again next year.
Good report Billy. Too much caffeine isn't good for you, you know!
Great read billy
Thanks folks. Should be going back next year and Mrs Bluenose says if i can book the Horizon she might even go for 3 weeks
What date Billy might even be there to join you and the Mrs for coffee ..colleen
hopefully the same time as this year. Just waiting on the nod from her indoors !
What a pity you never got to play football again mmmmm !!!!!!!! next time you can come and watch old boy !!! and let's meet up for a coffee next time as well. chat soon mate.
Got an electric shock off the shower, the room was full of bugs and the tinyest wardrobe I have ever seen. No way we were staying there. Complained like hell to the rep and got moved to another much smarter room, up some very tight spiral staircases (are they still there?).
I notice now they have a swimming pool (from google earth). Was hoping that the place had improved since 93/4.
Great trip report. We really enjoyed hooking up with you guys again. Hope to see you next year.
I see you're thinking of 3 weeks next year. Will you survive that much coffee?? LOL
Trevor i think i might have been put into that same room. It was tiny and very dull and dreary.
Gail, it was nice to see you and Ray again. Enjoyed our nights out at the meet and night market. As for surviving 3 weeks next year you have to remember Phil and Dee will only be there for the 2, so that gives me a week to recover from their bad influence
.... and were sorry you werent there following week...nevermind next year (3 weeks eh ) we can make up for it ...
Glad you had a great time ...
Chilly
