It is the PKK who are setting off the bombs in Marmaris, have been doing it for years,I would not let them stop me, never, but everyone is different, especially when children are involved.
But I am sure it is just a one off for that area, they may try some where else next, take care,

do you live your life in the uk looking over your shoulder? then why worry too much here. statistically the Uk has a higher terror threat than Turkey.

Seems a few of us are due to go out on the 11th Of Sep. We are going to Marmaris on this date too. Am totally still in shock and dont know what to do now. We booked our holiday online with MEDINLAND. Dont know how their policy works. Cant see thm being as good as Firstchoice and offering another holiday destination. What are the chances of MARMARIS being hit again

I wouldnt let these evil people stop me going to marmaris,they have this place pretty bad now so i very much doubt they will do it again after setting off quite a few bombs,things will be a lot beeter to go there now tighter security and that.Id be a bit more scared of going olu deniz,hisaronu and them places as they have not targetted these places yet and it looks like these eveil people are making there way round different parts of Turkey.Come on people dont let these idiots spoil your holiday to Marmaris go there have a great time and just be careful on your where abouts.These things can happen were even you go in the world,just be very careful and have a fab hols!!

Mariacp, Don't be put off going. Give it a few days and hopefully this day will be nothing more than a bad memory. GO, ENJOY your holiday and come back and tell us all about it. Don't let the cowardly thugs win. Chazy, thanks for your vote of confidence in those of us determined not to be put off going to Turkey. Yes, it is personal choice, and yes the situation is enough to scare people. We must all take a leaf out of Chelsea Boys book, be calm and focused and just be more vigilant than normal.

Ok it is a dreadful situation but if they intended to harm a lot of tourists then they could have made a much better job!! Remember 9/11 and 7/7? How many people have to travel to London daily? they are taking a risk daily as do any of us getting on a bus or train or enter any big shopping mall

Just like to say there have been some very positive comments entered on this thread. Concerns about travelling have been raised too and that is understandable. For those who choose not to go I am certain you are doing what is best for you and your family, you will receive no critisism from me. Those still going I am equally certain will have given it much thought before reaching their decision and I applaud you too. I don't have to make the decision this year as my wonderful holiday in Marmaris, only some three weeks ago, seems a long way off. I will not be put off however and intend to return next year as always. The Turkish people need support at this time and in many ways tourists returning to Marmaris and Antalya will give them support by their presence. To those going, take care, but as always enjoy everything the resorts have to offer. In closing, like everyone else my thoughts are with the injured and their families.

On Sky News at 8.45 pm a member of the KFF has been arrested following the bombings. Izmir was next on their list.

i m living in Marmaris.
i would like to say to you Thanks for putting nice comments of yours after the events happened here last night.
at the moment chaos has left the streets quiter now but i think everything will be ok in a few days time.
i m pretty sure security forces will be touher nowadays on suspicious actions and i dont expect it to carry on.
i will update with the news at the moment it seem ok to travel for you.
18 amongst to 21 are ok and back to their homes or holidays. 3 is still in the hospitals and will be ok soon. no life-threading injuries.

i would like to repeat my thanks to you as you are not letting terrorist to win and supporting us.

There is no way we will let the small minority of terrorists win and ruin a marvellous holiday in Turkey with the nicest people I have ever met abroad. Only came back about 7weeks ago and cant wait to return.
Like what was previously said, the Turks need our support now more than ever. With what has already been a quieter year than usual, lets not let them stop us returning to Turkey.
