Bomb in Antalya

At the end of the day, if you read the FCO travel advice page for Turkey, it makes pretty alarming reading - theres a fairly long lists of different terrorist acts this year.

However, I would never let this put me off going to Turkey on holiday.
As with travelling anywhere, you have to be aware of safety issues, but I won't be cancelling my holiday (I fly on Sat!).

The only way I'll be cancelling is if my flight is cancelled by the airline! and I don't think that's going to happen!

You're right Kerry-ann, it is alarming. However today I accidentally found my way onto the Australian governments equivalent of the FCO site. You should read the advise for people travelling to the UK, it reads far worse than the advise for Turkey!!! Quite shocking really.

You're welcome Sweetiepie, its only because I've been hanging around on here all day! lol

Have to say 'Good on First Choice' if the info is correct re giving back refunds or changing locations ----- am NOT saying we should 'give in' to terrorists but it does give people the chance to make up their own minds. I can't imagine having to make a decision about travelling in these cirumstances - we have no children, but for families it must be very worrying.

How very very sad for everyone - we flew out on August 11th when all hell hit re security - that was unsettling enough --- this is dreadful for all of those poor people on holiday in Turkey or about to go -------- and mustn't forget, dreadfully upsetting for the Turkish people (who I have heard are on the whole such lovely, friendly people).

Thoughts and prayers with everyone out there - take care - must admit the hotel pool would seem good to me

First Choice are only giving refunds or changing locations on holidays that leave either today or tomorrow any dates after that they aren't giving refunds or changing locations but yes i agree well done to them for doing so.

Hi Chazy, It is correct about the 3 Turkish people being killed in Antalya with dozens being injured, some serious but as for the hospital in Marmaris I cannot confirm this but there was a controlled explosion near Ketencia Hotel.

thanks Cruisecontroller

Maybe it is a controlled one, I hope so

On Sky News, there is a report that someone has been arrested, this was at 8.45 pm. Apparently, Izmir was next on their list.

We are travelling to Sarigerme (Pegosos Tropical) in turkey on the 25th september from Glasgow with 2 kids aged 1 and 2 and feeling a bit worried. Can anyone tell us if this resort is near where the bombs have gone off, we are flying into dalaman airport?

If you check out the Sky News web site it seems that they have got the people responsible - this seems like a really quick response and should make people feel alittle more 'settled'! (I think anyway!)

well here we go again ,we have been through all this before ,all the worry whether to go or not ,last year it was the bombs in kusadssi and marmaris ,and of course the bird flue .of course people will worry ,i myself have family in belek just now , my daughter goes to marmaris next monday ,and my wife and i go to belek this sunday . we will still go but i would be a liar if i say it wont spoil my holiday, i have met a lot of good people in turkey over the years, one of who phoned me last night from kadriya i simply to cement our friendship and apologise for the bombs ,(as if it was his fault) people who carry out these outrages should realise they are killing there own people as well . they will not stop me liking turkey and the people there , but everyone will have to make up there own minds what to do . my thoughts are with the poor people who were killed and injured ,god bless them and may god forgive those who committed these terrible things

Hello all from Antalya !!!!!!!

I think so of us need to report our feelings about this violent incident.

Sorry to hear you all write this. Still Turkey is a safe place. If I was planning to holiday in the UK or fly from here in Turkey to England would I change my plans due to the recent events in the UK. I don't think so. Unfortunately these events happen all over the world and I am really sad by the last days events.

Also I have lived here for 10 years now and would never consider putting my children or myself at any risk. Take this recommendation from some of us who are local residents living here. I have no plans to move back to Canada in the near future.
