cost me around £6 for one disc containing 12 Ian Rankin books.
quite a bit of choice and prices do vary from bargain to expensive.
the only downside I can see is that unlike tapes that keep on going, the MP3 files are seperated into chapters, so that you will have to select the next chapter as the one you are hearing finishes.
Also, depending on how much other stuff you have on your player you may have to buy an expansion card to accomodate the files.
Cheers Del949 i will have look
I have a feeling that this shop is also in a lot of high streets selling reduce priced books etc. Certainly some similar.
Maybe worth having a look in them.
Thanks Del I am sure I have seen this shop over at the Metro Centre which is close to me. I have a
I always leave my books on the hotel's bookshelf as I prefer to travel light, with the exception of one I read when in Goa last December, it was 'A mighty heart' , written by Marianne Pearl, I knew it was just up my sister's street so I brought it home for her.
I always leave mine as well and swop for some others. My favourite read on this years summer hols was Here Come the girls by Milly Johnson, a brilliant summer holiday read!
I just looked at that one on Amazon Helen, thanks for the tip, it sounds just the kind of book I enjoy on holiday, will look on Ebay for it nearer to my holiday
shirleyv - I've just ordered it from Amazon for my hols - So don't buy it, you can borrow mine.
Thanks Denny - I was just going to say she could have mine, after Shirley h has finished it
No problem Helen , It's easy for me to drop it where she works.
Thanks Denny
Agree with everyone about Here comes the girls, such a good light hearted read. Have recommended it to all my friends.
This year in Rhodes we used to put our books in the Reps area but they turned up the next day on the hotels shop bookshelves on sale for 4euros
We complained to reception but they didnt want to know so we just swapped books with other guests and passed the message around.
I had a word with the shop owner who said she had to pay a lot of money in Rhodes for second hand books.I said it was strange how some of them had Oxfam and other UK charity shops stickers on them.
I decided to test her and put a cross on page 300 of a book when I put it in the reps room.
Low and behold it was on the shelf the next morning.
I went straight to reception and complained. The book disappeared off the shelf but the hotel manager still didnt want to know.
I was in Crete 6 years ago and there was a huge room full of books that guests had left.
Either this is de ja vu (sp)or I've read this exact same post somewhere over the last week or two
My memory isnt what it used to be.
- and I thought it was just me
Ha Ha , I was thinking the same Helen , I had obviously read it before too
I always raid the charity shops on our High St for a few weeks before a holiday and stock up. 8 books is usually enough for a fortnight. Then I usually leave them behind as I read them. Someone mentioned 'The Works'. They sell books at 3 for a fiver which is often cheaper than a charity shop. However I still leave them behind. I work on the assumption that 4 books is about the same weight as a litre of wine or spirits!
I´ve just read a book called `One Day by David Nicholls´ I couldn´t put it down, my DIL will love it, so I will be bringing it back home....I´m not a big reader of books on holiday, I´m usually too busy doing other things, but I sat crying on the beach this afternoon reading this book.
