The new brochure from Exclusive Escapes (a breakaway from Tapestry)dropped through our letterbox yesterday, and to be honesy we've both decided we'd like to live in it.
We're particularly impressed with a hotel called the Golden Key at a place called Bordubet, which is claimed to be a 35 minute drive from Marmaris.
The hotel is is situated on a river near the coast and has its own beach club.
It's described as "remote" to the extent that the price includes half-board. I'm not worrying about having enough to do - it's got complementary watersports - stick me in a kayak or any other type of floaty thing and I'm a happy boy. The wife's the same (only not a boy, obviously).
What does worry me slightly is that it will be so remote there won't be any nearby competition for the tourist lire and drinks, snacks and anything else additional will cost and arm-an-a-leg.
Does anyone know anything about the hotel, Bordubet or the surrounding area.
Thanks.
I know the hotel and it is an escape. Bordubet is a small village with village facilities. It is about 30 km from Marmaris over the mountain. It is where the real Turkey is. If you want to be nearer try the Golden Key in Hisaronu. This village several restaurants that are cheaper than Marmaris and is only 20km away. The dolmus goes every hour. The village has 2 beaches, Golden key has its own beachfront, and on the big beach there is sailing, windsurfing and canoeing. Sorry sounding like a tour guide!!! PM for details if you want to stay.
I like the other Golden Key on the way to the "Amazon" and that is what you call away from the crowds.
John is "the Amazon" Golden Key the one I was posting about? from the pictures we've seen the surroundings certainly looked.. ermmm.. lush.
If it is I can manage away from the crowds just fine.
Can you put a link up for it if it is on the web
Hope this doesn't break any board rules about advertising:

Hi Rich, that is the golden key at Bordubet. It is by the river. Amazon is a holiday place a little further away. Looks great for a de-stress holiday.
I had the good fortune to go to the "Amazon" with Rami and his dad and my family and the man who owns the place is a famous Turkish writer and a very good friend of Rami's dad since meeting in their army days.
Now that is a place for relaxing.
John
We decided to take a break from the late nights and partying with our many friends in Ichmeler. We went into the office to see what trips were available and were told briefly about the Amazon trip. It sounded just what would suit us and booked it.
The view going up to club amazon from the mountains was spectacular. On arrival we were given drinks whilst our bags were taken to our accomadation which was exactly as described by Rami. We were offered the boat trip round the bays but decided to explore the area and secluded beach. We could have taken the canoes to the beach but took the 10 minute walk through the woods. We found ourselves on a small secluded beach with a few sunbeds and parasols and the feeling of being on a desert island the water was shallow and beautifully clear. After about an hour Khan (one of the brothers) came down with cold drinks for us. We then went back to club amazon where we laid on big cushions by the pool read our books and cooled down in the pool. Our hosts then made a lovely lunch of traditional turkish food, we returned to the pool area and were later brought turkish tea.
In the evening we were taken to the top of the mountains to watch the most amazing sunset overlooking the seven bays with a bottle of wine and soft music, a beautiful sight not to be missed.
On our return we sat in the al fresco resteraunt which was lit by lamps and candles and a lovely relaxed atmosphere and enjoyed a beatifully cooked turkish meal. Afterwards we were invited to sit round the log fire and have drinks and turkish coffee and popcorn. We were offered to go up the mountains to look at the stars but decided to save that for another time.
In the morning we went out on the boat fishing (at 7am) had tea and biscuits on the boat where we just relaxed and fished. Everywhere was so calm and quiet and the views were fantastic and the colours of the sea incredible.
Back to amazon for breakfast a choice of traditional turkish or omelette we had the omelette with tomatoes and bread.
We were driven to another secluded beach to sunbathe and swim. A few people wandered by but were mainly alone the sea was so clear and clean.
This was a truly amazing and relaxing experience our hosts were a lovely family nothing was too much trouble and they were very friendly but also left you to yourselves if thats what you wanted. We can't wait to go there again and may go for 2 nights and start our next holiday with this trip in september. If you want peace and relaxation this is a must. We are so glad we went it was total chill out an experience not to be missed.
welcome to my world........... but me and Jt dont want it spread about too much.......
If anyone would like to see the photo's that Lez brought back from the Amazon then they can be viewed here.
I also hear we will also be able to book a trip to Cappadocia, just as well we are planning a months stay !!!!
