yes maybe alot safer there, weve had two murders in my town in 4weeks,but they were caught within days and people knew who done it after the incident,no bribery and no closed doors,it must be scary for the lone traveller now,and god knows theres alot in goa, weve been to marmaris after the bombings and yes we were extra careful but at least we know what we were looking for and whom was responsible, how can that poor man have know that the people he talked to on the beach were plotting his demise, after all holidays are about relaxing and getting away from the hustle ,bustle and stressess and strains of living in uk ,who would have thought that a calm and tranquil place would be compared with towns and cities in uk""its safer there than here"" lets hope the family get to the bottom of it and the police comply lawfully.its a crying shame that his parents see goa in these circumstances a place we all love and keep getting pulled back too,my heart goes out to them xxx jan
In the past there have been a few scary 'incidents' around Anjuna/Vagator but don't get a lot of coverage because the police will associate them with drug related activities. How drug related, who knows... the police decide! And also it is out with their main catchment area for tourists (Baga-Candolim).
hi all..im going on my own in march.and did see the news last night and the bit about baga...thats where im going to stay,it does seem a bit worrying but just have to be on my guard a little bit more..i think if anyone did approach me and asked if i was on my own i would try and see the nearest people and say im with them..
I did 3 months alone in Goa Robbie and that my friend is a good piece of advice, never tell anyone your travelling alone
We witnessed a lone traveller in Sharmina's on Small Vagator being 'interrogated' by a couple of Indians.
Judging by his body language he did seem on the defensive but, maybe it was all perfectly innocent.
i've been away a few times on my own to various places in the world and have to say i do tend to be on my guard as anyone should.
i feel ill be ok in goa as its not my first time there, been going with a friend the last couple of years and to be honest sometimes we done our own thing there and just got on with it on our own.but im quite a chatty and sociable person so i dont think ill be alone that much when im there, going by how many great people we have met in the last 2 visit's..thats why its such a great place and why i'm going back..also agree with geedubya's reply.
just have to be a little more carefull..
Geedubya, is that sharmina or sharmilla shack ? I have used Sharmilla`s for the last 8 years and had some great laughs with the family there and even slept the night on the sun loungers after a nights fishing with Lou
I'm a chatty, outoing person so I'm hoping I'll meet plenty of nice people to sit and chat with in the evenings.
Poor man though, I hope they get to the bottom of his murder, it's so tragic.
That would be the one
