Yes, broadband is available ... I'm online here in Palm Mar ... on a WiFi set up by a friend & computer buff also based in Palm Mar (pm if you want to contact him). Telefonica is the supplier I'm using ... they don't have the greatest reputation on the island, but I've not had any problems & the line (in another apt. on the complex) was installed quite quickly.
Doreen
Telefonica, wanadoo etc do broadband, wanadoo is better.
You can get it via wifi or radio (you wont need a phone line) but that one isnt that common at the mo.
The best person to call is on http://www.isyourpcbroken.com
He deals with everything computers and is far cheaper and more reliable than most other computer engineers on the island.
Best of luck.
Ahem! Now I know I put up a post here!
First you need to get a phone line, obviously
Well, no actually ... as I said, the phone line is in another apt. Someone needs a phone line ... my friend (whose main expertise is in telecoms, though he's not bad at web design either ) has set up a small Hot Spot already in his complex here in Palm Mar (where RPollins is soon to be based) & hopes to expand this shortly & should be able to include a lot of other people in the facing complex. He can then give internet access to people for a small fee for the time they are here on holidays. Perhaps it's something new communities should take into account ... agreeing a budget for this sort of equipment as it will work out much cheaper than everyone having to pay for their own line every month
Think you might have wanted to post to the Palm Mar thread ... perhaps a kind moderator could copy the post over there
I think you may be right Doreen As I'm a kind of mod I'll move it.
Doreen, If you read my whole post you would see that it followed on to say you dont need a phone line for wifi or radio internet.
No hassle, Apollo ... I was just trying to emphasise that the 21st century world of Hot Spots had reached Palm Mar .... now, if we could just get the buses to follow!
Sorry Apollo pet. Whats happening to your posts? I'm sure that there was less info when I read it and replied.
