m hoping for a 2 day visit shortly to spain (via ryanair) All BAA info says that pushchairs can be carried as cabin baggage as can wheelchairs. Do I assume from this that the normal size restrictions do not apply ? Can anyone confirm if I can take a buggy as hand baggage, and therefore check in on line. I do realise that if possible this will class as the one item of allowed luggage.
Any help would be appreciated..........ie does anyone know of a make/model of pushchair/buggy that folds to the accepted dimensions for cabin baggage
Alternatively....anyone know of a e mail address for hire shop so I could arrange for a buggy at thew hotel
thanks in advance

It's a long time since I took a buggy on a plane but I asked my niece who has a littlie.
From what she told me, the procedure hasn't changed since my day.
She said she just told them at the check in desk that she had a buggy to go with her.
They put a luggage ticket on it and left the buggy with her so the littlie could stay in it.
The buggy was taken off her at the gate and put in the hold when she went to board the plane.
(Of course the buggy had to go through all the usual security checks at passport ontrol.)
I hope thiis is of some help.
I was hoping that by taking the item as hand luggage I could check in on line.....and not have to queue at the check in desk...we will have no other "hold baggage" but thanks anyway sharon
Maybe it would be best to ring the airline and see what they say.
Good luck, and have a nice trip.
As far as I know, there are no buggies that will fold down enough to be taken as hand luggage Where are you going to in spain? Maybe someone would then be able to see if there is a hire shop in that location?
Buggies go in the hold but you can take them to the steps of the plane and colapse them there and someone will put them in the hold for you - they are returned to the steps of the plane within moments of landing. They do noy count as a peice of luggage though and are carried free of charge. As for checking in online - I couldn't do this last time as it said I couldn't with an infant so had to pay to check in at the airport which was frustrating. One of the reasons is though that the buggy has a luggage label put on it at check in so they know how many should be going into the hold. I think you'll have to check in at the airport.
My grandaughter will be 2 by the time we travel but as it is a short trip hoped to manage with just hand baggage. When we went last year we went for longer and did the normal check in at the airport.......
thnaks for the responses so far
sharon
The only reason I can think is if it definitely needs a bar coded luggage label. I think a call or email to Ryanair is the only way you are going to know for sure.

we flew with ryanair to gerona in january and we took a buggy. you need to check in to get a sticker. you then just collapse it when you get near the plane and they will put it into the hold for you. the luggage handlers actually broke our buggy when they were getting it out of the plane, they snapped the handle off! and guess what, our travel insurance didnt cover 'damage to wheels or handles on pushchairs'!
On our flight home from Antalya 2 weeks ago (was it only 2 weeks ago?- seems ages ago), for some reason a label wasn't put on the buggy (we had one on the way out). Anyway it wasn't a problem at all, the man who took it off us at the plane door, never said anything about it not having a label. To be sure, why don't you ring the TO and ask them? Denny
