my husband bought me a 1/2 carat diamond princess cut 18 ct ring and we got it at an excellent price , it was march this year so out of season so im assuming thats why the price was so good, looking around the jewellery shops here, the prices in the uk are between 4-5 times higher, so im well pleased and so far no problems .

wendy if you have the email address of the shop contact them, but i would probably wait until you know someone thats going out there as sending in the post isnt very reliable in turkey, my mother lives there and only receives half her mail, or what about claiming off your insurance

Friends we went with last year bought an emerald and baguette diamond ring for £1,800,a week after arriving home one of the diamonds fell out.She took it back to the shop this year and they were so apologetic, offered her her money back or repair, she chose repair, anyway same thing happened a couple of days after she came home again,so now she is taking it back again when we go next year, lets hope they will give her money back!!.This was a jewellers in Marmaris.

spoke to the jewllers tonight. said i could have a full refund no
problem, but i love the ring. They are going to see if they can get another
one but in my ring size, as the other one was re-sized for me, and the jeweller
in the uk said this is where the fault lies.

Wendy ,if your ring had to be made bigger then that would explain it ,usually rings are stretched which would loosen the setting which holds the diamond in ,great that the are going to sort you out.

My hope is to buy my wife a nice diamond one day but when I do I will be taking a tester with me to be sure I am gettng what I think I am buying.

They are cheap and could save a lot of heart ache.

See Here

I would do this in any country outside the UK.

Your £50 would be better off going towards buying your wife a diamond ,these things only tell you if it is a diamond or not ,they will not tell you how good the diamond is ,or how good the cut is, that takes an experienced eye .If you want to just find out if it is a diamond or not ,then try cutting glass with it .

We bought my wife an eternity ring when we were in marmaris in 2006, we'd been married for 10 years which felt like an eternity. :rofl I think we paid £500 & were told it would be valued at double that in the UK.

A couple of months ago, one of the diamonds came loose (and was lost!!!!), so we had it repaired in the UK, where it was indeed valued at around the £1000 mark.

I suppose if you buy something over there, you could always visit a couple of other local jewellers with your new item and ask for a valuation. At least this way, you'd have an idea if there was anything fishy, while still over there?
