Hi,

We stayed at the Bonaire apartments during the easter holidays, there is a BIP supermarket 5 mins away, it's not a big supermarket but it's ok for buying all the essentials like bread, milk etc and there is a small bakery in it.

There's a Bip on the back road in Cala Bona (Na Llambies - if you walk up from Shaun's Crazy Corner/Pireo it's on the left hand side) and one further down towards Cala Millor up a road on the right behind the Don Jaime hotel.

There are 2 Eroski Syp supermarkets in Cala Millor - one up the road where the tourest info office is and one where the horse & carriages stand.

Alternatively there's a big Lidl's at the very botom of Cala Millor, worth a walk down to, get shopping and get a taxi back.

Bip would be your nearest I think...mind there's a small Spar supermarket on the front further up past the harbour that bakes buns/bread and croissants fresh every morning. If you time it right you get 'em whilst they are still warm! Have done that many a morning! Mmmmm!

speaking of cala bona we will be there next saturday for a week staying at the lovely cala bona hotel. During the week there is a football match on(yawn). Our football mad grandson would like to watch it. Any ideas on which bar to go to where we won't feel too uncomfortable as people who don't wear football shirts!! They have big TV's in the hotel but I think they are usually turned off in the evening as there is always entertainment.
Thanks

Hi,

while we were there the other week we watched a couple of matches in the Rope and Anchor a few doors away from your hotel. They were also installing a new LCD TV just before we came home.
We are not football shirt wearing people either and we were made very welcome, there is also a happy hour on 9 til 10pm

CHEERS Bar in Cala Millor always has live matches on...guaranteed fab grub, good booze and the best atmosphere. Kev has TV's inside and out so you've got the choice. We don't wear footies shirts either and have alway felt welcome and there's still very much a family atmosphere.

hi, regarding supermarkets can anyone tell me if there is one close by to the cristina apartments in cala millor? i will be needing baby nappies/food/cows milk etc .

There is a small supermarket on site otherwise you will have to go into Cala Millor. There is a couple of large supermarkets and a Aldi. CBG

Bev - if you buy Dodot nappies over there they are actually Pampers. Pampers branded nappies are VERY expensive but Dodot are made by same manufacturer and are identical to Pampers. Huggies are Huggies over there but avoid other nappies as a lot are the old fashioned plastic backed type and tend to leak (from experience).

Baby food you can get Hipp Organic, Nestle and Hero - obviously packaging is in Spanish but you can get an idea to contents by looking at the pics on the front :)

Cows milk, the first time we went ours were still on formula and the second time we went they were older and not really fussed on milk in their bottles...you may find it's different to our fresh milk. All you can do is give it a go and see if your little one's like it :)

As CBG has said there's a big Lidl at the bottom end of the resort (heading towards Sa Coma) we're planning on doing a big shop there at the start of the holiday to get kids drinks, yogurts, ham, cheese etc etc - I'll walk back with the kids and hubby can get a taxi back to apartment with the shopping.

There's also a big-ish supermarket in Cala Millor where the horse & carriages stand - it's called Eroski Syp (there's another up the road from the tourist info office on the front in Cala Millor - formerly Caprabo). These supermarkets are used by locals so cheaper than your Spar supermarkets which tend to be more geared for the holiday maker's purse (more expensive). You can get stuff you'd buy in supermarkets at home, tho' the likes of Heinz etc are generally more expensive.

All this talk of the resort is getting me VERY excited for my holiday. When are you off?

You may also find this site useful:

They can deliver all manner of baby foods/nappies etc - what a fantastic idea, wish it had been around when we travelled with our twins.

They deliver to Cala Bona/Cala Millor on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Sundays (pm)

Minimum order of £35 and Dont forget to allow at least 18 days for delivery.wow

If you're looking at baby milk, baby food, nappies and wetwipes for a 2 week stay - believe me you'll spend £35 easily enough! You may have to pay a bit more than you would in the UK but if you've got more room in your suitcase, less weigth in your suitcase then so much the better I think.

Allowing up to 18 days for delivery, well they'll have to ensure they have got the goods for you - if you book 3 weeks before you go where's the hardship in that? No different to organising transfers weeks/months in advance is it?

I'd have definitely used them if they'd been around when we travelled with our twins, the sheer convenience of not having to drag it all with us would have been worth it's weight in gold!
