Hi, i am new to holiday truths
thinking of going to cala millor next year.
been to alcudia 4 times and fancy a change
any ideas on best apartments to stay in
will have 2 kids age 5 and 11 and possible to OAPS.
Cala Millor is very nice but attracts a lot of German visitors. Cala Bona is a good choice for young or oldies. All on the flat, nice harbour and beach. Apartments Bonaire (Thomson) get good reviews it depends if you want to DIY there is plenty choice available. I have been to Cala Millor/Cala Bona/ Sa Coma/ S'illott many many times but like Cala Bona best. I am sure you wil get a few more replies to your post
thanks for that.
If it is appartments and Cala Millor you are after then how about the Atalaya appartments with thomsons !
Tisonlymoi i'm sure will also be able to recommend other appartments in the Cala Millor/Bona area as she has been many times !
Where ever you chose IMO i'm sure you won't regret it ! I have been to Alcudia twice and if you ask me I now enjoy the east coast alot better !

If you do end up in or near Cala Bona then make sure you visit the El pescador resaurant it is amazing and my mouth waters every time I think about it. We are also looking at going back to Majorca in September next year and must admit after the last time we do like the east coast, Alcudia and that area always seems so busy, we would love to stay around Soller but would miss the nice beaches. Don't forget it is easy to travel across the island if you want to visit other parts and make sure you eat at El Pescador.
There are stacks of apartments to choose from in both resorts - ones we really liked were Med 2 Apts (right on sea front promeade) and Samantha Apts both bookable thru' http://www.eurohotels-direct.com. They also do the Don Jaime Apts - mixed German/English guests with use of Hotel Don Jaime pool opposite.
Cala Bona wise I'd heartily recommend the Sema Apts but I'd personally give the Cap De Mar Apts a wide berth as the apts are very German orientated and I wouldn't bother with the Sol Y Mar - all 1 bed apts are in an annexe and altho' balconies are lovely you don't get even a hint of sun on them.
Personally I'd do a google search for apartments in Cala Millor & Cala Bona and see what comes up.
We absolutely love both resorts and see them as our second home - can't imagine holidaying anywhere else to be honest.

I agree with you, Cala Bona is brill, will be going back next holiday, we stayed at the hotel Leavante Park, woulld def reccomend this hotel, if you are going hotel based, are you still anti Euro
Hi Tis. Do you always holiday in Majorca?
Hi, dont normally do hotels, will probably try and book independently if I can, would prefer apartments if any more ideas from the replies already given. thanks
Have done Majorca, mainlaind Spain, Morocco (never again), Cyprus, Crete, Tenerife numerous times as a child & adult so fairly well travelled but hand on heart for me there is nowhere like Cala Millor/Cala Bona - it's like a comfy pair of slippers and I feel like I'm going home when we go and I'm seriously down in the dumps when I come home.
I can't imagine going on holiday anywhere else now if I'm honest - I just love it, love it, love it!
Also what can we expect weatherwise the beginning of October and is it expensive to eat out or would it be better to stay in a hotel.
October weather can be changable. I have been in October a few times sunny all week one year and rain all week the next! It may be best to be in a hotel half board if the weather is poor, but if you travel prepared (kagoule etc) all the resaurants are open til end of October so the choice is yours .
Hoping to go back again next year but round about july into august.
we have booked DIY this year to Cala Millor using http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk We have booked a 1 bed apartment from a lady in Kent who owns two apartments in the California Apartmenos.
We are paying £225/wk (which is the dearest rate). They are about 10-15 mins away from the beach and promonade, and as Tis says, located at the Northern end, towards Cala Bona.

Hi Tis. You will have to buy an apartment in Cala Bona. I would love to buy one in Sa Coma. Maybe my lottery numbers will come out this week
we stayed at the Bonaire in April this year and can't recommend it enough. Fantastic hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, loads of stuff to do within the grounds bowls, football, tennis, good size pool, close to the harbour with restaurants and bars (harbour was being done up as we was there and it looked really nice), we never go back to the same place twice but would probably make a return visit at some point.
Believe me if we had the money the first thing on my shopping list would be our own villa in Port Vel (just up the road from Cala Bona).
Would quite fancy an apartment - the one above Smithy's on the corner of the harbour would do my quite nicely if I didn't have enough pennies for a villa in Port Vel.
I keep praying my numbers will come up but nowt's happening so far!
Advertisment removed
Hopefully he'll be able to put something in the private rentals bit so anyone wanting to visit Cala Bona/Cala Millor can have a gander.
