I Went there four years ago, quiet island, there is a train that goes to the beach, there are excursions that you can go on, there isn't a lot to do, but if you are on a complex you'll be fine.
Just wondering if there are any chinese restaurants in calas de mallorca I know its not meant to be a very big place but on the off chance thought someone might know. If not,is there any in the surrounding resorts close to calas and cheap by taxi?
All ideas welcome
Thank you

There are 2 possibly 3 if they are all still open, Calas is having a very bad year, its hotels are mostly all inclusive so a few busnesses have closed down or are strugling as tourists are not spending as everything is free in the hotel
There are chinese take aways/resturants in the town center
Thanks bsol and harlowgirl, we are staying all inclusive but just thought we might treat ourselves to a chinese one night as a nice change.
Takes a while to get to from the Airport but we thought it was well worth it.
Where are you staying?
Have a great time
hi jarvo, dont know if you got my pm? Me and my fiancee are staying at the hotel club cala romani. I believe this is where you went. Was there enough shops to walk around or was it mainly bars/restaurants? Any info on the hotel also gratefully appreciated.
also the caves of drach are not too far away
The hotel is huge with a really big swimming pool, there are in fact 3 pools, 2 for kiddies and 1 big deep one and the bar is about 20 seconds walk away for when you need a cooling drink, it was roasting when we went and that was May. The nights at the hotel are more geared towards the kids with discos and games with the entertainers laid on for them. We would go in the bar for a few then go into the centre and have a drink outside one of the bars, you should go and try Centrel Perk, Andy and Jo are really nice. Hope this helps. Have a great time, I'm sure you will. Anything else I can help with just ask.
Hey Jarvo just wondered if Calas De Mallorca is along the same sort of size as cala d'or? Also did you notice if there are many restaurants (esp chinese) in the centre.
Ok, im female, im 25 and my partner is 29 and we have just booked a holiday to Majorca - Callas De Mallorca. The hotel is Sol Mastines/Chiuaua. The resort really nice and it 'seemed' to have everything we wanted.....
Has this resort got restaurants and bars to keep us enternained for a week? Dont get me wrong, none of us are into Magaluf, very much the opposite, but is it literally 'quiet' resort and are we goigto struggle with the nightlife? If so, are there other resorts nearby to offer us a bit more livelier entertainment (not Magaluf style).... i hear Jupiter club is open till 2am, is this actually any good?
Your opinions of the resort and hotel itself are very much appreciated!
Thanks all,
JM
hi we went to cal de mallorca 2005 aug saw the romani hotel from outside its rather large the beach at this resort is lovely but does get lots of surf my daughter went last oct and found that the weather conditions closed the beach many times ,we stayed at porto colom and went to c de maj many times as we loved the beach as regards prices its prob the same as where we stayed which means drinks are app 2 pounds per pint and cokes 1 pound i know from experience that pedalo hire is 10 euros per hour
We went to the Chihuahuas Mastines hotel in june.
There are some pictures put on the site somewhere.
Hotel bit dated but very clean. Views breathtaking.
pools lovely but quite deep.
Small shop on site, inflatables reasonable price.
Food was plentiful and nice. Drinks with evening meal cost extra, including soft drinks.
ceiling fan in room...air conditioned public rooms.
(hire a fridge if you can its worth it)
Best beach is cala domingos, follow the coast past from the triangular pool, it about a 15 min walk but worth it.
Five minutes walk from the front of the hotel is some shops near the Balmoral hotel. On the corner is a cafe where we often had a light lunch.
Carry on walking from there and 10 mins further is the town.
Here you find resturants, cafes etc.
It comes more alive at night where there is a good kids bouncy castle etc area, small playground and a couple of crazy golf.
Shops stay open till late and its fairly lively.
Some bars offer music or entertainment.
Rock cola has good entertainment food and drink
Id go back to this resort

can anyone tell me what the resort is like. thinking of going here next September to the hotel samoa. I have read the reviews but they don't give much away about the resort. I know its quiet but I'm hoping that its not like a ghost town. What I mean is we like to have a walk around the shops and things and try out different bars now and again. We don't want discos and things but just enough to keep the kids occupied. Can anyone tell me whats its like.
You're going in September ??...well if it's anything like most of the other resorts it will be fairly busy. The weather in September is usually excellent, the best month of the year in my opinion, not too hot and never cold. You can sleep at night without air-conditioning and it's shorts/T-shirts every day. It will also be quieter and less expensive than June/July/August while at the same time fairly busy.
The beach at the bottom is sheltered as well...like a cove - great for the kids.
calas de mallorca is an absolutely beautiful place, quite small but absolutley gorgeous, its beach is beautiful, the night life is very good aswell, theres a nightclub which is great to go too, and another pub which as live entertainment until around 12midnight and the karaoke up until 4am, and is also open during the day, its beautiful to walk round and if you go for a walk along the cliffs you can easily reach around 3 more places until the cliffs come to an end. There is also buses to take you places and it costs very little to travel on them, but its nice to have a change and have a look somewhere else, cala millor is a lovely place if u are a shopaholic as it has its wide range of shops, or if u like the more scenic approach then puerto cristo is a wonderful place, and the caves of drach in puerto cristo is a big recommendation! u can get to all them places by the local buses
The food was awful. Very mixed bag of food to suit British and Germans but to be perfectly honest I couldn't tell you exactly what it was most of the time, apart from the fact that all of it was always swimming in oil and there was chips, chips and more chips with everything. To top it off the staff in the restaurant were positively rude and would clear away your plate whilst eating the remainder of your meal and when questioned they laughed in your face and took the plate anyway. The cosmos rep didn't want to know about complaints, despite the fact that everyone was complaining.
There was an outbreak of gastroenteritis among the children and some adults which was virilent. The attitude was SO WHAT!! There were also break in's on the lower level apartments/rooms on a regular basis. The police were regulars whilst we were there!
The entertainment though I can say at night was very good.
I would never consider this hotel again. There was also lots of loutish behaviour among the guests going on, often with their childrenhaving to witness drunken foul mouthed behaviour by the parents.
Cheap and very tacky
Resort
Okish but very isolated from the rest of Mallorca as it is tucked away amongst a rocky outcrop on the east coast, the beach was down a very steep hill from the Samoa, it was small and secluded, more like a small bay really. I have to differ with the previous comment from "lil" about it's absolute beauty as we just found it an everage small bay with a beach. The views, however from the cliffs are certainly breathtaking but on a hot day the last you you want to do is walk to the next resort.
The quadrangle where the restaurants and shops are are ok but are mainly souvenir type of shops. Not much going on really.
All I can say it that I wouldn't ever consider going there again. The North coast of Mallorca is so much prettier and has far more to offer.
