I believe Calis is more of a purpose built holiday Resort and everyone I know who have been there say it is a lovely place - enjoy
Toffeemen
aw thanks very much - feeling a lot better after reading your replies! 26 weeks and counting!
been to calis twice would have no problems with visiting again, providing it isnt too hot fethiye is within walking distance, personally i would opt to stay in calis if i ever visited this area again, although it is a tad shabby in some areas and hasnt the scenery of olu, there is a wonderful friendly laid back atmosphere about the place and i find it much more comfortable than olu deniz, you can also visit gocek from calis quite easily and it is wonderful here.Travel to and from fethiye is frequent and cheap and from fethiye you can travel to ovacik, olu, hisaronu,or even kalkan if you fancy a trip further afield i am quite sure you will have a great time.
its brill to hear direct from people who have been there - thanks for your post. getting excited. love this webpage - by far the best for holiday info
Hi, we are also going to Calis for the first time in june staying at the Gunes Hotel, looks a nice resort and looking forward to it,
while in calis you must try real turkish in alo24 its 500mts away from the traffic lights and goveverment building just ask its a must
will do.....getting excited
Stayed at the Camelia Apartments 2 years ago, they are great apartments very spacious and the owner Dede is great and they have a dog there Millie who is just lovely.
If you need more information on the apartments let me know.

My partner and I stayed in Calis 2 years ago and loved every minute of it. Very relaxing, lovely people and atmosphere. We visited Fethiye and Olu Deniz by Dolmus - very quick and easy. We also did the 12 Islands boat trip from Fethiye which was a lovely day out. Oh and of course do a Turkish massage - fantastic! I'm sure you will have a great time!
Summerdays
hi katwin we stayed at the camelia apartments last june for a fortnight and enjoyed ourselves millie is a great dog she will have you chucking the ball all day. Dede is a brill bloke he will arrange for boat trips and the like as he has contacts. The apartments are basic but clean.
We have stayed in calis twice at the oykun. I have been to marmaris in the past (20 years ago, I believe it has changed a lot and not for the better from what I have read and seen) and also hisaronu. Calis is by far the best out of the 3, everything you need is on yuor doorstep and you can get over to fethiye very easily on the water taxi if you want some serious shopping or a change of scenery and pace. A lot of tourists you meet in calis will tell you that they a return visitors, in fact my parents have been going for a month every year for around the past 15 years. We can't wait to go back hopefully next year!
We do not normally go back to the same place & hotel, but we fell in love
with Calis & the Oykun Hotel.
Calis beach is nice & flat, lovely main street with bar/restaurants,shops,
jewelers,trip agents,hairdressers/barbers.
There is a water taxi you can catch into Fethiye, along the short canal into
the bay of Fethiye & landing in the lovely harbour of Fethiye.
But one of the good things about Calis beach is its promenade.
Lined with restaurants along the flat promenade, with beautiful sunsets,
really worth the visit
Anyone with walking disabilities will find this resort a bonus, really flat, you
can even rent mobility scooters for getting about.
Calis beach is a great place to use has a base.
