Hi the earliest I could book my trip was July. I routed London, Delhi, Bangkok then you can catch any number of flights to siem reap. I found having a break at Delhi was much needed. I then flew Bangkok to phnom penh for onward to sihanoukville. From there I am on the night bus to siem reap on Saturday.

Anymore info just ask,

Cheers,

Paul

We alway's fly Emirates to Bangkok and then Air Asia to PP. I think it is normally about 10 month's before that they are released.

Bangkok airways may be able to offer good flight/acommodation packages. We certainly got a great deal when we went to SR. :)

After all the valuable help I have had on the forum, Im going to bite the bullet and do our own thing instead of a group tour. We are looking at flying from london with cathay pacific, then transferring to Dragon Air for final leg. Has anyone done this route, as the transfer time is quite short, only 1 hr 25 on the return trip?

We are planning travelling by taxi during our time there (taxis appear to be quite reasonable). We were thinking PP, then Kep or Kampot, Battambang, then on to Siem Reap, before flying back from PP. We've only got 2 weeks there, but have been to Siem Reap last year as part of a tour, and spent three days at Angkor Wat.

Do you think this sounds do-able? We fell in love with Cambodia and want to see more of it, without the rushed feeling of an organise tour

Thanks in advance

Are you flying into Bangkok? IMO the return transfer time is too short. (I am speaking after missing my KS flight last summer!) You are looking at boarding an international flight which won't be easy as rearranging an internal one. Have you thought about a night in Bangkok? If you have never been it would be worth having a day there. I can't help with anything else as I have only been to Siem Reap( which was DIY). Sounds a great trip though :)

Hi Fiona

We would be flying into hong kong. Both parts of the journey are going to be booked through Cathay pacific, so hopefully they would make sure we caught the transfer. Would like an overnight stay in hong kong, but seems to work out quite a bit more expensive

DIY is a bit daunting, but sure it will be fun :D

Apart from Goa - we always do DIY.

2009 we travelled with Thai Airways London - arriving Bangkok -6.10. Internal flight out to Siem Reap same day at 11.35. Stayed in Siem Reap for 4 nights then flight to Phnom Penh and caught the 14.30 Mekong Express Bus to Sihanoukville where we stayed for several nights. Mekong Express back to Phnom Penh where we stayed for 2 nights - back to Bangkok for one night then home.

Betty could i be cheeky and ask you what sort of money does a trip like that cost not including spending money just the travel fares...

Return flight to UK was £1005 for both of us. At that time internal flights were...Bangkok to Siem Reap...Siem Reap to Phnom Penh....Phnom Penh to Bangkok was £508 for both of us....and the bus to Sihanoukville wasn't that much ..but can't remember off hand...it's a 4 hour journey each way up the highway.

In Siem Reap we stayed here.. http://bopha-angkor.com/html/ (Shirley V's help!)
In Sihanoukville we stayed here.. http://www.reefresort.com.kh/
In Phnom Penh we stayed here... http://www.thebillabonghotel.com/ (thanks Shirley V again :rofl )
In Bangkok we stayed here.. http://www.viengtai.co.th/en/

Although both are the same terminal I still would query only having 1 hour 25 mins to transfer. It doesn't leave much leeway if your first flight is delayed. I assume you can check your luggage straight through?

Hi Fiona

I think the luggage is checked through all the way at heathrow. I've had a really short transfer time with Kingfisher before, and we made it ok, but hong kong is a big airport. Maybe need to look at malaysian airways
