Sea Star sits across the road from the beach - so it's a little walk to the shore. As Briar says it's not a good looking hotel. The beach immediately across the road looks quite rocky, but actual shore may be better.

Longwood holidays have their main Sinai offices here at the hotel - so our transfers from Nuweiba tend to pull off onto the hotel both to collect guests and for the reps to check a few things out..

Sat with someone on the bus back to the airoport last summer who'd stayed there and really enjoyed it.

Thanks Briar, my partner booked with longwood for the 20th March - 27th March without asking questions!

Its my first ever Holiday since leaving school so I am nervous but excited at the same time.

Well sorry to disagree with the previous postings, but we actually visited this Hotel twice.

Yes it is in the middle of nowhere if you mean there are no shops around it, but the beach whilst not the most pretty, the snorkelling is fantastic! There is a reef which if you snorkel all the way round is pretty amazing.

The staff of the hotel are among the kindest, most helpful I have ever come across. Okay it is quiet, so if it's a riotous time you are after, you have chosen the wrong place.

From there it is an easy trip to go across the border into Eilat where you will get some fantastic shopping (Tax free Mall). We went across 3 times during one trip without any problems whatsoever.

The Hilton at Taba also lets you use their beach and again the snorkelling is pretty fantastic. They also have shops if you want to buy things.

Another idea would be to get the bus to Dahab. It is so beautiful down there it is well worth a visit.

Hope you enjoy yourselves.

What's all this talk about shopping for ?

Surely the shopping back in the UK is good enough ! Heaven forbid... Eilat ? Dahab ?

No... Nuweiba is very pretty and has excellent snorkelling and better beaches than Dahab. Don t bother with the beach at Taba Hilton - its full of pebbles. The Seastar beach is better.

But do go and visit Pharaohs Island and Salah el Deen Castle... its only a few miles away. And do visit St Catherine's Monastery... its a must, and then one can visit Nuweiba and Tarabeen on the way back.

The Seastar is a WYPFIWYG. What you pay for is what you get. Its a good budget, value for money hotel. The rooms are simple but quite OK and the general facilities are fine... I have eaten there one evening and found the buffet perfectly adequate and the staff are very kind and helpful.

The fact that the Longwoods office is on site is also a plus point.
