Having just returned from PEK , I have talked my family into all going out next summer, there will be 10 of us in total. I stayed at the Royal Kenz recently and loved the hotel however as my father is coming, he hates the idea of being so far away from the resort, so the Royal Kenz and surrounding hotels are out.
Now what we want is a good HB or AI in a good location. My dad gets bored easily so I had thought of the Marhaba Palace as it was in a great location and my dad wants a lovely big grand hotel. However upon reading about the hotel it seems there isn't much entertainment and it is only on every other night. Can anyone recommend this hotel or another hotel where he will be kept busy?
Hi Greenshoes, I'm with your dad on this one!! Although PEK isn't really my area, so I can't recommend any of the hotels personally, the following map may help to pinpoint where you might like to stay. I'm sure you will get plenty of recommendations on here.
Just got back on Sunday after 2 weeks at the Maharba Palace, and although it is not peak season ,there was something on every night. In the main lounge some nights it was kareoke with a game of bingo,or a duo on an organ and drums would be playing. In the American bar ,a guitarist was on every other night, and there was also tvs in there,or there was th e cafe bar, which still served beer and spirits. On Thursday nights they had folk and belly dancing one week, and an act with swords and beds of nails on the other.I admit it was nothing to write home about, but just over the road from the hotel, was the irish bar,or if that did not suit,it is only a few minutes walk to the port,so i think that in the main season there will be quite a bit of entertainment close to hand.
Thanks. Just reading up on some more now. We had thought of the Abou Sofiane but I think thats too far for hime still. The man gets cabin fever if he isn't smack bang in the resort!
i stayed at the Marhaba Palace last October and there was something going on each evening in the main bar , and it got quite busy , we used to go to the American Bar after evening meal then head out to the marina , have a few along the way then make our way back up to the Irish Pub opposite , it was halloween while we were there and the bar was done up and the holiday makers and ex pats actually had fancy dress clothing on was had a great time , good time was had by all
Hi Greenshoes, I have stopped at the Abou Sofiane the corridoors are very long, god help you if you get one right at the end of 3 long corridoors, if you go ask for a room near the left. pool is a bit small for the size of the hotel but staff are very nice and helpful. you will need a taxi to get any where nothing near the hotel. very nice and clean hotel.
