Well done Annemarie for letting us know that. We are off in 9 days... and we cant wait.
We're going to the Can Garden resort in 3 weeks time and just like everyone else we were quite apprehensive at first but the pictures and reviews have been excellent, could anyone please give me any feedback regarding the fitness center? Thanks in advance,
James.
I have just seen this hotel on Thomsons teletext pages for £209 for 1 week in June!.I might just be tempted if the Newcastle flight goes direct now instead of via Bristol.
We are off next week and would really like to know the days that they are on and also the best way to get there.
Cheers
Well, were all packed, ready to leave on Tuesday. Cant wait.
All I can say ıs 99% of ıt ıs perfect.
No worrıes for anyone comıng out.

Just got back - we had a 17 hour delay thanks to some woman deciding to have a fight on our plane coming over to pick us up! Anyway here goes:
The food is great. Of course, its not going to be to everyones taste, but overall there was good choice. In the afternoon there is cake served by the pool. There is a snack bar that serves burgers, chips, salad, fruit and sometimes hot donuts in the afternoons (usually Wed and Sundays). You can help yourself to drinks as well as being served at the bar. The coffee is great in the terrace bar and the hot chocolate if you feel like it.
Staff - the hotel is having some problems with staff. Whilst we were there the Entertainment team were sacked. Some of the waiters can be rude and lear at you.
However, all the staff in the dining area are really really nice/friendly. Watch out for Mehmet - he is such a nice guy looking to learn as much as he can about English. Some little pipsqueek (Little & Large) decided to complain the day before we left because Mehmet was "being too friendly" - nearly lost him his job!!!!!
There are some shops on the resort:
The gold jewellers: def barter with them. The less interest you show the more they will drop the price. Everything is priced in £.
The bag/belt shop: probably the best around. He does not drop on prices much but you will still get a bargain.
The T shirt shop: Although the prices are quite good, the guy in the shop is quite difficult to barter with, almost to a frustrating level.
Sun Glass Shop: Pick yourself a bargain.
Silver shop: Again barter with her - she will eventually drop her prices.
PHOTOGRAPHER: Just keep any eye out for him!
We were very happy when we arrived at the hotel. On walking in you are hit with how lovely it all looks. Plenty of surrounding bars and areas to sit.
When you arrive your bags are taken to your room by porters which is great.
To rent a safe it is a euro a day which is really cheap.
Drinks in the resort are very poor (weak and limited). You just couldn't get drunk at all - so we suggest you buy some duty free to take with you if you like a proper drink.
The trip to the Market, Waterfall and Boat Trip on the Thursday is a must (cost about £21). Watch out for fake perfume in the market - they really do try it on with you.
You are given pool towels, although we thought that they always smelt.
We found that currency wise the took , YTL, Euro and £.
Any questions please email me.
Wendy
Well i tried to ask a question and you sent it to another tread, had to email Wendy for an answer
am new to this site but booked to go to turkey for the first time to the can garden resort. usually go to spain tenerife greece but fancied a change. the hotel looks nice and so far so good i think with the new reviews. my only concern is that i have a 10 year old who loves kids club pools mini discos and mixing with other similar ages. will we find this at the can garden? is the entertainment as bad as some people say? and someone recomended taking own alcohol as weak and limited, is this correct? also maybe do some trips, what is recomended?
thanks
any info much appreciated
Although the entertainment team were sacked on the day we left, they had new team coming in immediately. Its not your usual entertainment stuff, like going in to a club. They do get everyone involved in everything. There is a games room. Plenty of time to go and eat. Around the corner from the large pool there is the water chutes. We were there in term time (last week) and there were children there already, so if you are going in school hols, I am sure your daughter will mix with others.
As for the alcohol, yes, we found it very very weak, as did others. If you like a nice drink, even 1 or 2 - take a bottle with you. We poured our Jack Daniels in to a water bottle and topped up our glasses. We were charged 8 euro for 1 drink of JD when we first got there.
If you need any other info, please post it on here and I will respond.
Regards
Wendy
i dont think im supposed to ask on this topic but what currency did you take? did you take pool towels and did you go on any trips? did you find yourself out of the hotel much?
thanks
Any news on the entertainment?
Take either £, Euro or YTL - it doesnt make much difference. They are all accepted.
Dont worry too much about this - the hotel are very "up" on what guests need, so there will be an entertainments team when you arrive.
The trips are expensive if you book through Thompson. the rafting was ok but wasnt very exciting and could fit into a half day trip.its more like a big water fight really but ok.
the waterpark is tiny compared to the one near Bodrum, not worth £20 each really.
Entertainment wasnt up to much but i think its like that at a lot of places.
I would reccomend the hotel but i hope they do more kids stuff as there wasnt much really.
We asked the travel agent if we should take euros but she said no. i would say take at least half euros, it is a mainly German area and the euro is the mostly used currency.
Hope this helps anyone going soon
Just got back, Hotel was really nice, location was ok but I think the area is in the development stage. I will post a review on this Hotel shortly. My big gripe about this holiday Staff and Side. If Can Garden want to succeed as a top hotel in Turkey they need to get the attitude of the staff right, We came accross the most misserable lot you could meet the service around the bar and pool area was dire the only time I saw the bar manager have a smile is when he wanted a tip before we left. The restaurant staff were ok a couple went out of there way to give good service. As for shopping in Side never again, you know us men dont like to shop but my god do they haras you even the wife was getting stressed out with them. We never got that in Olu Deniz not that bad. A little advice have a couple of brandys to chill you out before you go. Dont get me wrong we had a good holiday but I think I will leave Side for the Germans.
