Theft,
My mums case didn't arrive at liverpool airport on thursday night, but my dads did.
The staff at liverpool were very helpful, my mum filled in a report, and was told that someone would be in touch within 48 hours.
And true enough, yesterday (fri) aft my mum got a phone call, to say that he case had been located and was in Denmark.
It would be flown to dublin, then back to liverpool, and she would receive the case sometime on saturday.
Again true to there word a fella arrived on saturday tea with my mums case.
She opened the case, as it was padlocked, and the padlock was still on the case and locked.
Then she said to my dad 'this case seems funny inside, not how i packed it'
She said her stuff was jumbled up, but thought that the case must have been flung around a bit.
She took her stuff out of the case, and out of the 5 packets of cigs that were in there.
4 had been taken, along with a travel iron and a pair of hair straighteners (about £20)
Each of the packets of cigs had been wrapped up in a t-shirt and placed next to each other in the case.
So someone had taken all 5 packets out of the t-shirts, but only taken 4 of these packets, and put the padlock back on the case.
Can i contact the police and get a crime number, and claim of the insurance.
i'd also get in touch with the police as it theft for a crime number (they wont do anything else) and phone your travel insurance and claim for loss.
dont forget their is excess, so you might want to re-count your loss
i'd certainly would want to get to the bottom of it, which obviosuly the lock has been tampered with, and of course it has been floating around, and some one was bound to have a look and help themselves..............
Also depends from where your mother was returning as you are only normally allowed to bring 200 cigarettes when returning from certain countries !!
country not a problem, it was majorca
sorry thanks nemo
I think it'd be an insurance thing, but sometimes they have big excesses so you need to check that!
