Hi
Hop on the bus into Salou. It's a 10 minute ride and the buses are very frequent and cheap.
You'll be spoilt for choice in Salou.

thanks for your help. Just wondered if there are any for families that you would especially recommend? or are there just too many to mention???

It might be worth investigating if the three theme park hotels, i.e the El Paso, Caribe and Port Aventura are open to non-residents. As these are child friendly and sometimes the characters appear in the lounge for photo opportunities. Also I guess if you ate in one of the resturants of an evening (they all have a la cartes as well as the buffets that the half board guests are in) there would be nothing to stop you from watching whatever entertainment they had on that night.

That's a good idea, must look into that, it would be handy if we were at the park anyway to go to one of the hotels for dinner & entertainment!

It would be nice to have somewhere else to go near the hotel in case kids get tired at night or get bored with hotel entertainment....if anyone can recommend anywhere good for kids in la pineda that would be great
:D xx

went to La pinedia a couple of years ago but it was in winter months not a lot open but there are plenty of bus rides to places of interest and theme parks for the children, sure you will enjoy it.

Hi,
The last time i was there was may05 and we stayed in Golden Donaire park. La Pineda is very quiet with not many bars there, Bees knees was closed down when we went (i dont know if the scottish lady owner had sold up or not) but it was open the previous may when we went, it was a good pub with nightly entertainment and pool tables and other games for the kids but it is on the main road and obviously you need eyes up your bum when you have small children with you. Beside Bees knees is another small pub/restaurant, it is enclosed and has crazy golf for the kids, mini bowling and adults bowling as well as the usual table games. There are a few other pubs in resort but not with much for kids i am afraid. You can go in the Hotels for entertainment but it depends where you are staying really as to how far they are away. Tell me which Hotel/aprts you are in and i will try and help you more.

We're stayin at the golden donaire...have read so much good stuff am really lookin forward :hyper I'm not fussy as long as there's one or two other kid-friendly pubs coz we're at the hotel for 2 weeks and may need a change of scenery. My 2 girls will be 6 and nearly 3 when we go so we'll probably get bored before they do! sayin that you know yourself if they're havin a good time you are too.
Thanx for reply (and for all your input on this great forum! some of my bestest tips have come from you!)

You will really like the Donaire. We stayed there a few years back and found it very good. You will be surprised at the size of the rooms. Far bigger than the traditional "box" shaped hotels.

As a word of advice (which I've posted before) if you want to impress the locals, you will find the name of the Hotel is pronounced (Don - airy)

I have heard that the jeep excursion is a must do trip. Have you any other suggestions for great days out with kids? The only other thing I think we'd like to do is Barcelona for a day, I understand it's cheaper and better to do this yourself by train rather than go on a tour. And of course the water park in la pineda and portaventura. :D xx

Hi,
You will have a great time, there is entertainment from morning til bedtime if you want it. Kids clubs are great fun , mini disco on everynight before the main show starts, the bar gets packed quite fast so get up there early for a seat.
The little mini golf place i mentioned is just up the back lane from Donaire as is Bees knees. If you want more to do then Salou is not far, it is cheaper to get a taxi at night as bus fares go up after a certain time (7pm if i remember right).
You can go to Barcelona by train or you can get the coach which stops just along from the hotel, it cost 17.50 euros last year return and i think half price for children. It is a great day out we went to Nou camp stadium and the Zoo.
Obviously you know about Port Aventura and Costa caribe, its great, lots to do and see.
Aquapolis waterpark with the dolphins and sealions is right on your doorstep. The friday market is behind it.
Getting the bus on the same side of the road as the hotel will take you to Tarrogona, this is a Town with a big shopping centre, high street and has markets there too, it also has old roman ruins and if you walk far enough down the high street you will see a beautiful beach.
You can go to a safari/water park called aqualeon, the safari bus passes along the resorts (in peak season i think) you can check it on the net, i will see if i can find the address.
You can do jeep safari with the reps or you can book it seperately, i know that there are offices in Salou but i dont think there are any in La Pineda.
Hope this helps

Yor welcome Eileen
Tarragona is about 25 mins by bus from La Pineda. The markets there are good and some of the shops too but it depends what you want really.
Kids will love the beach which is literally 10 footsteps outside of the hotel, my 3 did. There are 2 shops right next to the hotel where you can get the kids buckets and spades and fishing rods(and whatever else you want) the hotel is situated on the end of the beach and there are rocky parts good for fishing. My boys had great fun chasing me around the beach with crabs, fish and even a small squid

If you need to know anything else just ask :D

Hi all, spending a couple of days in Le Pineda in March for my birthday, can anyone tell me if the market in Tarragona is open in March and what day it's on?

Hi Bobbyjoy,
You would have to ask when you get in resort, the locals will be able to tell you more. Another place where the market is on is Vila Seca, i think this one probably would be on at that time of year, you can get there by getting a bus into Tarragona then changing at the bus station.
