We have visited many Greek Islands Kefalonia being our favourite but other Islands are really good, we have also visited Portugal once and really enjoyed that and hope one day to return there our children are grown up and married so we only have ourselves to please but either Island should be good it's just choosing the right one and knowing what what you are looking for being beach holiday, sight seeing, relaxing, but I'm sure the two destinations you have chosen will will surfice.

Ok, I have been trawling through the posts and have made a shortlist of:

Kefalonia
Rhodes
Samos

Which is the best for a 14 year old, two thirty somethings with plenty to do bars/taverners/restaurants/scenery/beach - no lager louts!

Kefalonia, lovely scenery, definitely no lager louts, friendly people, great weather, I could go on and on, but you really need to find out for yourself, it`s beautiful!

I went to Portugal (Tavira on the Spanish end of the Algarve) and enjoyed the holiday, it was peaceful and we had enough to do... wasn't exactly the pubs and clubs type of place....

but I much prefered Corfu, Cyprus as it was more freindly.. don't know why just seemed to be more relaxed.... I kind of felt like I had to be in the finest suit all the time in Portugal otherwise I would be shunned (I'm sure it wasn't like that, it just felt like that to me)...

Would recommend Pythagorio on Samos or Pefkos on Rhodes both have plenty of bars restaurants and nice beaches
