Do you really need a car in Paris? The public transport system is excellent and parking and driving are a major headache!

If coming from abroad you might get a better price by booking in advance with a major hire company. I cannot suggest any 'local' companies unfortunately (not my area) and you will certainly pay more for an 'instant' car hire actually in the rental office than over the internet in advance.
