Twinkey Winkey,
I'm one of Helen T's group. As she said we're heading to the same resort as you on 21st March. It will be a week's break for 3 hard working couples :) :cheers . We found Sanji and Christine W a wealth of information on the area. Scroll down the posts and you'll find various topics on Torremolinos and La Carihuella. Where are you staying?

 Hi, flying from Cardiff at 06.00 Fri 21st March, having never been there before was wondering what to expect in the way of bars cafe's etc. amd most importantly the weather, have asked on another site and they 60 degrees but cold after the sun goes down. Don't know exactly where we are staying as a friend who has been there before has arranged everything, think the appartment is a private one. There are 6 of us going just for a long weekend. Where are you staying.

We're 3 couples staying at the El Tibor for 7 days. We have an early morning flight from Bristol so we're staying there the night before. Had a load of info from Sanji and Tony Adams on here. We're really looking forward to going now.

 Like I said got no idea about this resort, I'm a Gran Canaria fanatic. We are staying at the DON LUCIA APPTS overlooking the beach I believe. Wonder how far your accomodation is from ours? Let's hope we all have a brill time. :cheers :D

Hi again Twinky Winkey,

From your profile I see that your from Port Talbot. We're from Carmarthenshire, a little village between Llanelli and Carmarthen. We normally like to fly from Cardiff but this time had a really good deal from Bristol. We've never been to Costa del Sol either, Greece is our favourite haunt. From all the info we've gathered on here there'll be enough for us to do there (bars etc :cheers ). We're actually staying at the El Tiburon hotel. Are you couples or a group of mates? Just being nosey.

Hey you lot save some beer for me, I fly out from Newcastle on the 30th March, I suppose you will have all gone home by then.

Weather wise 3 years ago it was glorious at easter, still in short sleaves on an evening. At midnight we sat out on the balcony having a nightcap and still we didn`t need a jacket ot cardigan.

Most things open, except the waterpark.(I don`t think you lot will be bothered about it). The Spainish like to visit at easter so no where will be empty.

Have a walk down to the Marina on an evening, it`s lovely.Lots of bars around. 24 hour square is supposed to be the busiest place, its next door to Mcdonalds.

Twinky- Winkey. I've just been watching Sanji's video of the La Crrihuela area. Have a look at it. Christine- Shirley H & I are only there for a week so there'll probably be some beer left for you.

Hi Twinkey - Winkey. Thought I might as well post the info here so others could see it. I received it as a pm from someone who obviously knows the area well. I've printed it off and put it in the flight bag already. A taxi from the airport to El Tiburon should be 20 euros tops. Maybe 22 at a pinch. Gibraltar is 70 miles from where you are staying and best reached, in my opinion, on one of the tour coaches.
Cheapest price I saw last week for the trip was nine euros, but expect the journey there to take at least two hours because of the number of pick-ups along the way. Going the DIY route, with a bus to La Linea, then walking across, is no quicker, and only cents cheaper. Tour bus is the way to go.
Where you are staying is much nearer to La Carihuela to Torremolinos, and there are lots of restaurants and bars there, including the famous fish restaurant Casa Juan (not to be confused with the two Juan eateries alongside). Well worth a try.
The first street back in Carihuela is crammed with shops, bars and such and a delightful place to explore in the evening.
A ten-minute walk west will take you to the bustling Montemar, where the Dark Side of the Moon is situated. Highly recommended this place, especially at lunchtime. Go early (12.30-ish) to guarantee a table.
On the road back from DSOTM is a road full of English-style bars, many of them with karaoke. You will not struggle for entertainment here.
Henry's bar has a decent menu, and next door, at Ming's (Chinese) they offer an all-you-can-eat buffet lunch (including paella) for only 6.90 euros!
Further along, beyond the Marina, look out for The Potter on the front, and, above it, the Blue Lagoon. Great open-air terrace here with sea views and an excellent choice of eats. Highly recommended.
Also recommended, a trip to Mijas Pueblo. Get the bus at the top of the road to Fuengirola, and at the terminus change for the bus to Mijas. Go on a Wednesday, when there is a flamenco show in the village square. Also enjoy a free glass of wine, courtesy of the local tourist office.
Maybe think about booking a lunch table here on the terrace at the Alcazaba Restaurant. Not expensive and the views are to die for!
When in Torremolinos, I suggest a visit to the tapas bar situated nearest the exit/entrance to the rail station. Friendly place this and pretty cheap, too.
If you are up for a night out to remember, think of a visit to Valparaiso Restaurant, just short of Mijas. Great food, wonderful views from the terrace, and cabaret, too, with dancing and such. Wonderful place.
Hope this helps. I enclose links to websites with lots of useful information for you all.
Have a great holiday. Tony.
