When we were there in December Steve it was a sports bar, which is a shame because we liked carriages. I hope it does open again, it's was one of our favourite Bars.

Carriages Cabaret Bar changed to the Game Bird
In November 06 we saw Ron Jones (Country Music Singer, formerly at the Red Dog)singing in the evenings. It was a Sports Bar during the daytime.
We chatted with Ron one night in another bar and he seemed unsure about how long the Country Music would continue.

I too was rather saddened when Carriages closed, and was then transformed into the Gamebird. Carriages was a bit different to other bars with an old fashioned Cabaret club atmosphere. It is however still the same chap who owns it, he is an English builder who has lived on the Costa Blanca for years. I was talking to him one night in The Olde Tavern, which is another bar he owns, opposite The Melia hotel. He said he did'nt regard the Gamebird as a Sports Bar, but it looks pretty much like one to me, and so similar to many other bars in Beni, I told him i preferred it as Carriages, but I cant see it changing back i'm afraid.

Best Regards - Taggy :)

I know this bar had a lot of problems with Cockroaches, We used to go into the Scottish bar and Scruffy Murphys on the same block and was in there one time and they where everywhere, we was told by a member of staff that they where always treating the place for the problem but Carriages manager never did (hence the re-occurring prob).
With Carriages being so dark they where over run with them apparantly, but I did go in there once and never spotted any.
Hope it gets its old time feel back for the elderly as they loved the place.
Regards Liz.
