We have just returned from a midweek break at longleat, we are frequent visitors and have been to each park at least twice, some more. on this visit we found a huge increase in traffic, vans, lorries and private cars, at times it was like being on a main road, We have never encountered this problem, to such a bad degree before, has anyone else noticed an increase in the traffic using the roads. The whole point of centre parcs for me is the traffic free environment, which at longleat at least seems to have disappeared :(

Hi trod, we went to CP elveden at xmas and actually wrote to complain about amount of traffic! We have gone at least twice a year for the past 10 years and this was the worst. Off to Longleat Monday, so a bit worried about traffic, hills and my 7 year old on a bike...Don't always mix!

I am off to Sherwood tomorrow and we are complete CP virgins. Any last minute tips would be great :)

Hi Folks

Me and the Wife and our kids of 4yrs and 2yrs are off to CP Sherwood on Monday 1st May.

Any ideas what are the best things to do as money will be tight, unless I can find a buyer for a Kidney before then!

I've just returned from my girls weekend away to Center parcs at Elveden & had a brilliant time.

A 3 hour spa session is now £32 (gone up quite a lot) but well worth the money (although there were A LOT of people in all at the same time)

We went to Pop in the Parc which was very entertaining and all the kids staying there had a great night.

There was a disco in The Forum which was open until midnight.

Kempstonbob, When my kids were that age we spent alot of time in the swimming pool which is free.

We'd take a cool bag and do a picnic (CP say you can't take in your own food, but lots of people do and as long as you have no glass, they just turn a blind eye) and stay until the kids got bored.

We also found that they loved spending time outside, riding bikes, in the playground and feeding the ducks could pass the time quite nicely.

Look out for the trim trail too, it's a route around the parc with some fitness apparatus every so often (such as a balancing beam or parallel bars). It's designed as a fitness thing but children always manage to find something to do on them!

And after all that activity, they'll be worn out so they should sleep like little angels!!

Have a great time!

When we go to oasis whinfell we always take monkey nuts with us and spread them around the patio area the kids love watching the animals eating them especially the red squirrel that come right up to your door and eat them there its the kids fav bit about the whole trip :P

I know there has been talk about a fifth Center Parcs for the UK.

Does anyone know if it ever came to anything, i.e where is it going to be located, is it a work in progress or did they fail to get planning permission?

I heard a rumour that there were more dog places about at CP's we did try to price up a break for 3 adults - £50 for taking our dog  also as i work in a college August midweek prices are nearly £1000

Needless to say dont think we will be going! shame really fancied that!

Hi

After years of going to Center Parcs I have just found out that the spa, the Aqua Sana has has now been opened to kids from the age of 14 for ALL sessions. THis has had the effect of truning what was a tranquil haven and relaxing location into an extension of the Subtropical Water Dome. It is now extremely noisy and absurdley busy in some sssions. As it is a national poolicy the local staff simply shrug and make placating noises but can't do anything and most seem just to hide went it gets rowdy as they don't want to face conflict. It appears that the decision was made as some peolpe asked for kids to be allowed. And the assumption was made that as no one said they didn't want kids (none of us knowing it was even being considered so didn't think that we had to say) in the spa it would be a grand way of making extra cash. If you have an opinion or complaint the man to speak to is

It all seems rather at odds with all the advertising they are doing to encouage adults and couples onto spa breaks. I am agrieved at shelling out extortionate prices for an amount of volume and activity I already get (and enjoy when I am in the mood) at the SUbtropical Water Dome.

Hi

I am a Centerparcs virgin and am about to book up for a weekend at Sherwood forest and was just curious on some of the activities. I had a price list sent through but it's only a small selection of the activities on offer.

Basically i'd really like to try falconry and wondered if anyone has had this experience at one of the center parcs and costing/value for money etc.

Also, i've never been on a horse before in my life but thought by being at centerparcs might be a good opportunity to experience it, again costing/value for money would be appreciated.

Plus any other info in addition to the topics covered on this thread!

Many thanks!

My son did the falconry a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. My husband went with him though he wasn't taking part so he could take photographs.

The man who ran the session told them alot about the birds and they all did get to fly the birds.

My daughter and I did a beginners pony trek. We are absolute beginners and we had a great time. The stables are off site at Sherwood but they take you in a minibus and it's just outside the CP boundary. It was an hour's walk through the woods and we really enjoyed it but I've got a feeling that they don't offer this session anymore.
