We thoroughly enjoyed the Century. The quality of meals in main restaurant is excellent, waiter service is good although tbh all we look for is the meals to be delivered in a friendly, efficient manner. Not interested in too much banter from waiting staff.

Difficult to assess atmosphere of ship as our priorities are the ports of call, evening shows and dinner table atmosphere. All were excellent. We are not great drinkers so bars etc. could not comment. It certainly seemed all on board were enjoying every minute.

Price of beer/spirit/cocktail etc. approximately $5-$6 All drinks have a 15% gratuity added. We did not have any wine but, from memory, some of our table guests spoke about $25-30 a bottle for reasonable quality.

For gratuities you have the option of adding $10.25 per person per day to onboard account or doing them yourself. We simply kept them on the onboard account and on final couple of days you get vouchers and envelopes to pass on to titled, relevant staff e.g. waiter/assistant, assistant Maitre 'De, stateroom attendant and chief housekeeper.

It is a personal thing, but I am discovering over time that the crew members are paid next to nothing and tips are really their "wages". When I think of my own performance at work, some days are really good and the attitude is right, on other days life situations can affect mood etc. so I tend to be rather forgiving if service is not precisely up to mark on board. Obviously if service is downright poor then that is a whole different matter!

One thing we did notice regarding dress code. In the main most men dressed a notch down from stated mode. e.g. on formal nights most men had a suit and tie, fewer tuxedos/bowties. On informal nights most did not wear a tie with jacket, and some no jacket etc. It is not a problem. The ladies always dress smartly anyway!

Plenty variety in music for most tastes from harpist, 4 piece violinist/piano group, 4 men male harmony, louder music group, grand piano in the cocktail bar and Michael's club etc.

Really, you cannot fail to enjoy particularly in the Med with fantastic ports of call.
