i have not been to the village in cheadle but have been to the one at nottingham, coventry and dudley. they are all the same.
they have good leisure facilities and we have never been disappointed with the restaurants or rooms.
we try to go on one weekend break a year to one of the village hotels. medot.xx

Village Cheadle is good. Excellent sports and leisure facilities and handy for Manchester or Cheshire countryside and towns.
Hope you enjoy!
Hope you enjoy!
To close to stockport though, which is not the nicest of places very ugly and boring town with not much going for it, horrid place yuk.
Sliema2 you are missing SO much!! Enjoy a stroll on Alderley Edge (about 20 mins south of Cheadle) and have a pint at the Wizard .... or even better homemade cakes and a pot of tea at the adjacent tea rooms!
You could visit the Lowry Art Gallery, shop till you drop at the Trafford Centre, and even enjoy the Blackpool Illlumations .... and even visit Stockport for a good Saturday market ......

Hi Alsacienne, it's good to hear from you again, however, can't stand blackpool biggest scum hole in england (see previous posting on blackpool), never ever been to the trafford centre and have no desire to do so as I detest in-door shopping malls such as these , the arndales, meadow hall etc etc these sweaty places always seem over run with hooded chavs and always reek of cigarette smoke, cheese and onion b/o pasties, and poor coffee, Lowry centre is in salford not stockport so doesn't count, pubs in alderley edge are a rip off, and stockport market is dying on it's feet due to stockport council crippling the stall holders with rent increases there are less stalls there than ever these days, my grandad would be so upset if he was still alive as he was born and brought up in the market place, best local markets are bury and bolton, with oldham coming in a slow second, now if you were talking markets in Malta, Italy, Belgium or Germany then that's a different matter.

Sliema2
ps, just in case you were wondering why I'm being such a grouch, we only got back from Malta less than 2 weeks ago and already hating being back in the uk.

Sliema, understand your disappointment in nt being in Malta. I feel the same about Cyprus. However, please remember, some of our members (including myself) live in these areas.

Well Sliema2 that was a bit of an unnecessary rant wasn't it? There's plenty more boring brown towns as well as poor old Stockport and was it necessary to include most of the North West while you were at it?
(And I'm missing Tenerife but who else would care)

How do Kath, this member has lived in the area all my life, that's how I know it so well
Vivien-Marie, I care about you missing Tenerife, so a big hug
to you and hope you get back there soon, I find that checking out the webcams can help but can also really cheese you off, especially when the weather is minging here and is so nice there, makes you think of all your fave things and all the things you would like to be doing if you were there.
Regards to you both

glad you enjoyed it , Alderley Edge isnt taht much of a rip off but there are also a lot of other places Knutsford where i live is great for meandering around and Tatton Park ,Tabley House and Arley Hall are all on the doorstep , there are loads of pubs and resatraunts in teh town so you can have something to eat
and if you wnted to branch out Jodrell Bank is just outsdiee the town as well ,
agree with the Trafford Centre i dont like it much i would much rather go to Manchester itself and wander round King Street and have a meal and drink in the castlefield basin

Hi Suzy - very pleased you enjoyed yourself.
Aaaargh, Thief of Bad Gags I hate the Trafford centre as well, too crowded, too bright, too shiny, too tiring, I get dizzy just looking at the shiny tiles on the floor in Debenhams in Bolton.

Ashton market offers more than oldham even with the fire that destroyed the indoor hall, if your into real ale stockport is excellent some really good pubs and some good local gigs around too. Cheadle is a good base for getting out and exploring the cheshire countyside and villages.
