We paid 513 each with hotel included for Easter fortnight in March. At the time the flight only price (on exact same flight) was 573 ! Not sure how that works.

Forgot to say that is for March 08.

I just costed doing the package myself, flying in March 08 via Mumbai and then onto Goa with Jet (better connections for the BA flights than Kingfisher) and once you add the accommodation in it's not any cheaper than booking a package and you have a few hours to kill at Mumbia. However I thought the flight prices were very reasonable £366 return to Mumbai with BA and £80 return with Jet to Goa.

I have been pricing flights and even when doing a price now for March 2008 I cannot get as low as £366, the prices seem to be rising by the week, Are your prices through a broker, A lot don't want to quote yet for next March as they say the airlines have not released there schedules.

I am trying to squeeze 3 extra days onto a 3 week holiday using easter days so have to go via Mumbai as will be inbound Sat Outbound Tues.

I've just gone through a dummy booking on BA.com for next March and also come up with £366.
We are going with BA in October but into Delhi and out of Mumbai- they came out at £420 which was cheaper than anyone else was quoting.

Mids, it was as Fiona says, on BA.com website, and it was earlier this week.

My wife Alex and I are trying to book flights back to Goa in December, around the 15th, but at the moment BA are quoting £725 (Edin -Heath - Mumbai). Also the likes of Jewel in the Crown & Thomas Cook are quoting over £900 for flight only.

Is this usual for this time of year or can anyone reccomend somewhere for a better deal around mid December. At the moment we will probably wait till nearer the time and see what deals are available.

datsun we found that the prices of charter flights are terribly high this year I'd like to think they are trying to make a killing knowing they are on borrowed time when (hopefully) scheduled flights are allowed to travel direct.
We were quoted around £800 for 1 flight leaving Gatwick 1st Dec and 1 flight 8th Dec both returning 30th Dec by numerous companies. We have gone via Mumbai the last 4 years but as I am travelling out a week ahead of hubby he insisted we do chartered (think he thinks I'll get lost by myself!!) eventually got flights for those periods just under £600 through Global
Still prefer to travel schedule, and I have heard good reports of the costing of the flights via Sri Lanka which may be worth a try
good luck

We were on the BA flights from Edinburgh to Mumbai in April which cost around £450, so £725 in December seems a big jump in price. I'll have a look at both Global and via Sri Lanka so thanks for the advice.

I agree it is a huge price hike mainly because it includes Christmas and airlines do it because they have a captive audience I really look forward to direct schedule flights

This is an example of such price hikes where periods like xmas, easter etc are concerned, based on a two week holiday using BA, leaving Heathrow at 10.40am and leaving Mumbai at 13.40:-

30/11/07 £386.20
01/12/07 £528.20
11/12/07 £638.20
14/12/07 £658.20
21/12/07 £688.20
25/12/07 £749.20
31/12/07 £426.20

Always worth looking at changing your holiday dates by a few days to see how much you can save :!: PS. I was bored, so done the above

Thanks Tony, I wanted an am flight so I get Sunday as a full day there so it was down to Jet, Air india or BA.
B.A are fully booked around the return date :yikes

looks like its going to be busy so bitten the bullet & booked Jet, worried that the flights are getting booked and certainly not going down in price!!!!

Booked my flight for February with direct holidays. It's a Mytravel flight and through Mytravel is £494 and then £17.00 for meals. I only wanted a flight so checked flight only price with Direct hols and it was £474 excluding meals . However, if you book it as a holiday rather than flight only you get flight, transfer, meals and dormhouse for £385 ! Won't bother with the transfer or dormhouse but won't complain at the £100 saving.

Update £424 Rtn outbound March 2008-Return April 2008 (these dates include Easter 2008 weekend so some flights are already booked up believe it or not)

Jet Airways, cheaper flights available with Virgin but they only do Pm (21:00) flights which were not as good for us.

Could not book flights direct with Jet they only accept Indian issued credit cards!! this also applied to our internal flights but we got around this by faxing copy of credit card & driving licence and shaved £165 off UK booking prices by using Indian booking services.

Mids on tour,
What Indian booking service did you use?
I looked at jet airways but as you said they will not accept credit cards issued outside of India. :thanks
