In north Goa try the Taj hotel fort aguada or the only other one i know would be in panjim and that is the Goa Marriott, 4 star hotels in Goa can be off the beaten track but the taj is in Candolim/Sinquerim, soory i can't help you with the Mumbia hotels but if you go on the internet and put in hotels in Mumbia it will list them for you and same again for North Goa/Candolim.

Try; makemytrip.com

Good luck

You might want to look at the following links
The 5* Taj Holiday Village

and the Fort Aguada Beach Resort mentioned by Mike

I don't imagine these will disappoint, and the location is great.

My OH and me did the same thing in April this year, flew BA from Edinburgh-Heathrow-Mumbai and stayed in Mumbai for 4 days and Calangute for 12.

Stayed in the Chateau Windsor hotel in Mumbai not 4 star but there was a good 4 star next to it, The Ambassador.

I have not stayed at the Taj but been in it and it is a very nice hotel.

If you can afford 4* why stay in a souless hotel?

Look at Siolim House or Marbella or Nilaya or my favourite, even if it is a hotel Coconut Creek

I have to say that I did have doubts before my holiday. I'm used to 5 star luxury in the Far East( paying 2 star UK prices  ) It was a thought to book a hotel in Goa. However, I have to say, the more basic accomodation made no difference at all to the enjoyment of the holiday.
Don't get me wrong- I still like luxury but it doesn't seem to matter in Goa!
Back to your query- we did go luxuryish in Mumbai and can recommend the Fariyas.(pease note we had NOT booked the suite but got an upgrade!)

Cheers Max, we're looking at all of them, Marbella looks particularly good. We've also came across quite a few villas and apartments which look nice.

Fiona, Faryias looks nice, and reasonable compared to some hotels in Mumbai!

yes Martin
expensive as it was it didn't compare to some of the hotels! Great location.

Spent all day researching this trip, and still haven't decided!! We'll probably do 4 nights in Mumbai then 15 in Goa. We've sent emails off to tons of apartments, villas and hotels. We have chosen our flights though, Edinburgh - Frankfurt - Mumbai with Lufthansa, business class, air miles are excellent!! :D

We've now booked our flights! Business class from Edinburgh - Mumbai via Frankfurt and then First Class Mumbai - Edinburgh!!!! :D :D
