We were in Prague last June but I know people who have been there near Christmas, its absolutely freezing but soooo beautiful.
Our next door neighbours went to Prague for Christmas 2004. They went on the 23rd and said it was really cold but really beautiful. The city is very picturesque, especially the castle. And apparently they do lots of hot toddies which are ideal for keeping you warm
It can be very cold, but all bars fronting the old town square have outside seating set up (as in the summer), with patio heaters so it retains the character.
Well worth a trip!
We have booked for Andels Hotel (with Expedia), going on the 23rd.
Looking forward to it, thanks for the replies!
We went to Prague between Christmas and New Year 2003. It was very cold, below freezing all day, but beautiful. The Old Town Square was fantastic with a big Christmas tree and market stalls. We really loved it. It think I put a couple of pictures on the photo gallery on here, here's one of them.
I have booked Dublin now but this is making me want to go to Prague also.
You will have a great time in the run upto Xmas. Prague is still busy with tourists, but not too busy.
To see the city get on the trams and stay on until the terminus - we did this a couple of times, the trips take less than an hour, but we found bars where prices were half the cost of central Prague and you saw real life.
We did cologne, last year and the christmas markets were lovely. And there is loads of shops and great bars.
