it can be a bit slow logging on
going to calella in feb next year. i will be bringing back 3200 cigs and 60 g/virginia. 1600 for the wife and the same for the mother in law, tobacco for myself. they smoke different brands. does anyone know if customs will give me a hard time about this and is there any govt legislation that point to an answer. i am definately not selling these on, they are intended for myself and immediate family.
or tobacco for your personal use.
if you do get pulled at customs i would think you will get a very hard time, especially if you are bringing back different brands of ciggies and tobacco.
in your circumstances i would bring back some ciggies and some tobaccco, keeping to limits ie 1600 cigs(all of 1 brand) and however much tobacco is half the accepted limit(30 pouches i believe), and if i got pulled at customs i would argue that i smoke tobacco during the week and proper ciggies at weekend and when going out -it will help to have an open packet of ciggies in your possession
claiming 1600 cigs are for your wife or MIL as a present would not help you i'm afraid.

If you are a frequent traveller then you may have problems but if not then you should be fine.
Mick.
Although the cutoms guidelines are 3200 cigs PLUS 3 kilo's of tobacco, they are supposed to be for personal use. Even if you stick to the guidelines, if you bring back different brands they may take the view that you mean to sell them on and could give you a hard time.
Remember that HMCE are a law unto themselves, so don't complicate matters by saying you intend to give some away as presents.
In theory, as has been previously stated, there should not be any limit on the ammount you can bring into this country, if it's for personal use. Unfortunately, as far as cutoms & excise are concerned, that is very often not the case.
or is there a well stocked tabacos at the airport, which would be handy
As far as I know there`s a train that runs into the centre every 20 minutes so you should have time to find a Tabac shop and get back to the airport.
Plenty for sale at the airport but a couple of euros dearer than the Tabacs.
(although they may restrict the amount they sell you)
Here`s a link that gives you the prices (same prices all over Spain in the Tabacs)
just wanted to know how easy it was to get to the centre and if there was a few tabac shops
thanks for the link, very helpful
