Hi
My wife and young daughter are going on a 2 week cruise in June to the Fjords and Iceland (conditions permitting) whilst I stay at home working ! What she would like to know is what sort of clothes to take as she's been told by a friend of a friend that for the Iceland leg she'll need to take thick winter clothes and winter boots !! Having only ever cruised the Med where choice of clothes is easy, she's got thinking that she's going to have to take both summer and winter stuff. Could anyone that has been on a similar cruise at the same time of year please advise as to whether or not the winter boots story is correct or not.
Many thanks
Mark
We did a cruise of the fjords, Faroes and Iceland in June. I would recommend taking some warm clothes, including gloves and a scarf, but not the boots. It wasn't too cold in the ports, but out on deck it was freezing some days and I was wishing I had taken a few thick cardigans and a heavier jacket.
Layers are the best idea so you can add or take off as required.
Which ship is your wife sailing on?

Thanks for the info, appreciate it.
They're sailing on the Grand Princess I think. I've got work commitments so the pair are going with the mother-in-law (

Anyhow, thank you for the advice re the clothing, she'll be very grateful.

are the order of the day!
My first cruise was up to Norway in June 2000 on the Sundream. Yes it can get rather nippy but certainly not cold enough for boots as Luci confirmed! A good warm jacket is a must. I didnt take a hat or scarf or gloves and I can't say I regretted that (and I do tend to feel the cold). While we were cruising the fjords there was a plentyful supply of hot "cocktails of the day" which were very welcome! When things did get too chilly we just retreated inside.
One word of warning - my legs were rather badly burned on the journey from the UK over to Norway. Although the sun was shinning there was a very stiff breeze while we were in open sea and I burned before I even realised how strong the sun was
Norway is awesome - a most beautiful place to visit. Sadly, He-Who-Must-Be-Ignored is a bit of a sun worshiper so I dont think he'll be persuaded to go over there again.
