Hello
We are going self catering to this hotel on the 26th September for 2 weeks(me, hubby & 3 yr old son). Just wondering about irons, is there one in the room or if not can I hire one? Also I take it there is a kettle in the sc apartments?
Really looking froward to our hols. we stayed in Cambrills last time (Oct 2003) but I didnt like it there and the weather was rubbish. Loved portaventura though looking froward to going back!! hopefully not to rain again though
Lindsey
The SC rooms are bigger than the H/board rooms so that is a bonus.
As far as I can say there wasn't an iron in the room, so prob you can hire one, there is a kettle but it is the type you have to boil using the cooker ring (whistling kettle!), btw there is a hairdryer in the bathroom.
If you do any of the 'games' say HI to Juan from the mad WELSH lot ie. Hev & Kelv, Gaz & Michelle
We loved PortAdventura too but found it better going in the evenings.
Have a great time

Thanks for your reply. Just debating weather I should take a travel iron although they are a bit of a waste of time!! Kettle sounds like what you get in most apartments so that will be fine. Good about the hairdryer though, although is it a slow one?
My hubby is from cardiff although lives in scotland with me now
Lindsey
As my name sugests I am from Wales and yes it is Cardiff!
You will have a great holiday, we did.
Are you taking kids with you? There was 4 of us, myself with hubby and son 13 and daughter 17.
The hairdryer is ok, I have stopped packing my travel iron as I never used it, found as long as I hung the clothes straight up they were always ok, depends how fussy you are I suppose!?
Don't forget you have to have '100 Euros' to book in (you get it back) plus it was 10 euro dep for extra key and 44 euro's for safe key (get 10 E's back), so it was quite abit to pay out first day!
Only thing that did cheese me off, was that I couldn't book 'late checkout'! grrrrr makes me mad when the hotel is advertised in the book with this option, then when you try booking it you are told you have to do it in the resort, then when you get to the hotel you are told you have to do it 24 hrs before leaving then when you go back you are told no we are full!!!!!!!
Hev
Thanks for the info. sorry for the delayed reply I knew about the deposits etc thats okay more to keep to spend on perfumes on the way back!! Gutted about the late depature rooms though was hoping to book one. Maybe will be more likely to get one this time of year, hopefully less busy??
Only 2 weeks to go
Lindsey
thanks again btw
Another quick question
Do they change travellers cheques in the hotel? Thanks in advance!! I week to go
Lindsey
Hi, We're off to Salou in two weeks and was wondering, can anybody tell me what the smoking policy is at the Dorada Palace Hotel? I'm thinking if it's non-smoking I might take the opportunity and pack up!!! So looking forward to it.
stayed here last year and as far as smoking goes you could smoke outside not inside. entertainment was outside by pool area if weather good so can still smoke if staying in & watching show. as for in the room its not allowed I'm afraid . stayed year before last & had ashtrays in the rooms- these vanished last year. sat out on the balcony having a crafty fag in the mornings and there were smokers all around huddled in corners of balconies like naughty schoolchildren. quite comical really.
Thanks for the heads up.
this holiday was hoping to go back to cap salou, but with work etc and getting time off , iv left it very late to book it and cant find anything in cap salou itself, was hoping for ontario or h 10 mediterean village. so now im looking elsewhere in salou.one that iv been thinking of club dorada palace,
anyone stayed in Club Daurada Palace Hotel and Apartments in Salou before and tell me a bit about it.
we still considering club dorada but now looking at other options too, maybe we will diy it and get flights with ryanair, and just book a hotel somewhere .cos package holiday on the different sites arent matching the dates my mom has off from work
I have heard the life guard likes her whistle and you can't swim underwater?
The s/c rooms aren't really big enough for 5
We are thinking of going here next year and need to book shortly but can anyone answer these questions for me please?
yes the lifeguard LOVES her whistle but there was no problem swimming underwater.
we stayed s/c and thought the rooms were big enough for 3, tight fit for 4 but 5 would be really cramped in my opinion.
It is a nice hotel but be warned its right on the side of spanish dual carriageway and the car noise is constant and the ambulance sirens are a pain too!!
hope this helps x
Can anyone tell me who have stayed at this hotel (Half Board) was there a kettle in your room?
Not when we stayed half board last year
hiya, looking to go here in september, but no new reviews this year,or chat since 2008,so if anyone has been this year, love to here about it.pete
