Hi Sarah and JT,

received the PM thanks ,need to look at some dates and finances before I do anything else.

The Tokmak apartments are probably about 20 minutes walk into the heart of the town, but it is not an unpleasant walk and should not put anyone off going to the apartments. Along the way you will pass many interesting restaurants and shops, so you will not feel as if it is a long walk.
The apartments were only open a few months when my wife, two kids and I stayed there in July 2005.
The apartments were clean and well enough appointed, but our one bedroom apartment was tiny, easily the smallest apartment either my wife or I have ever stayed in.
In the living room there were two single sofa beds. OK when converted into a bed, but ridiculously small when upright as a seat (basically each bed becomes a 'one and a half' seater). My wife and I are slim/medium, and our kids are only 8 & 5, but we couldn't all sit down in the livingroom at the same time.
As for the air-conditioning, there is only a unit in the bedroom, so the livingroom, which acts as a bedroom at night, becomes extremely hot and uncomfortable. We had to hire a fan for the second week which helped, but only a little.
However, the staff at the apartments are tremendous.
The swimming pool area is excellent (there is a large rectangular pool and also a kids pool) with a pool table, showers, toilets, plenty of sunloungers and other seats available. The bar is well stocked and the food is good.
We would not return to the Tokmak apartments because they are so small and only have air-con in one room, (the owner Sarah informed me that the room size and the air-con installed was normal for Turkey. I cannot comment whether this is correct or not) but we had a fantastic time in Icemeler and will return.

Family planning on booking these apartments, any info would be appreciated, 4 adults 4 children, think they are up by the market?
Are rooms decent size, staff, owner etc

Haven't actually stayed there but went to visit a friend there last year. Now I have to be careful what I say here as Tokmak (Sarah) is a regular and valuable contributer to the forums My comments are based only what I saw from the outside and they looked great. I was particularly taken by the structure of the bar at the poolside which was acovered in wooden structure. I would best describe it as a work of art using telegraph poles ! Seriously it looked excellent. Nice clean poolside too. It is away from the biz but near the market. I would think a 10 min leisurely stroll would take you down into the centre of Icmeler. Unfortunately can't comment about the inside of the apartments but I'm sure if you were to pm Sarah she could fill you in.

We are thinking about going in October this year. Does anyone know how far it is from the beach and if the beach is sandy? We have never been to Iclemer before so would be very grateful for any advice re transfers from Dalaman as travelling with youngish children ( 9 and 4). Thanks Jennie

club tokmak is close by weekly market which is about a 10-15min to beach,very modern and clean,private transfers take about 80.min-90mins. tour operator take alot more due to the fact of dropping everyone of at different resorts and hotels
so better sticking with private
