Hi
I paid a deposit on a two week trip to Concord El Salam yesterday and I think, having read some scary reviews, I could have made a BIG mistake. The pics on travel agent's web site apparently showed the "front" hotel and from what I can gather, the "sports" area is kind of like going to the local gym.... with a few bedrooms dotted along the way. I'll be travelling with my two kids and ideally, I want to veg out and take it easy.... trekking from one hotel to another for them to use facilities is not really on my agenda!! (Yes, I'm lazy!!)
I'd really appreciate any comments from those who have stayed at the sports area recently. Not sure I can make any changes at this point unless the agent will transfer the booking to the "front" hotel but I'll wait to see if there's any positive comments first.
Many thanks
having stayed at the concorde a few years ago i would personally say that the sports side is geared more towards children. we stayed in the front and the entertainment wasnt up to much, very laid back and not much for children.
just out of interest why have you chosen the concorde? someone else may come along and say different but i personally dont think that is one of the best hotels for children, all depends how old they are. there are some hotels in nabq bay further up the coast line that are more geared towards children

Hi Sutty
Truth? I was sitting at my desk yesterday feeling like crap and just wanted to book something so we'd have something to look forward to!! I came across a holiday that I could afford and just thought.... what the hell, I'll go for it. I'm probably being way over paranoid here but there are such mixed reviews.
Kids will be 16 & 10 when we go in July and really all they want is pool, pool & more pool and throw in a few waves, fish and camels and they'll be in 7th heaven. Thankfully, they are pretty low maintenance kids and not moaney or demanding.

although the front section is laid out better i honestly believe that the sports side is more what you will need with the kids. the pool area is very large and the rooms surround the pool, the sports side has its own restaurant, you can go across to the front for breakfast and lunch but you just cant eat there in the evening. from memory as we ventured over to this side on our first day (due to not being able to get a sunbed in the front section), there was a slide for the kids.
the animation team are more active on the sports side as well so will get the kids involved.
go with an open mind and you'll enjoy it, the concorde does run a shuttle bus to na'ama bay if you want to venture into na'ama bay but you now have soho square less than 5 mins away from the concorde.
Going to Hilton Sharks Bay tomorrow for a week, this will be our 8th trip to egypt and we love it. yes some people complain but i have also read reviews on sites from people who have been on the same holiday as i have and their experience is completely different to mine. these sites either have brilliant or rubbish comments.
the weather in july will be great and very hot.

Ok, already I feel better, thanks for the positive comments Sutty.... it's reassuring coming from a "seasoned" Egyptian visitor.
Have a great holiday and by the time you get back, I know I'll be sold on the place!!
