hi,
When looking at accommodation in Es Cana I have come across a hotel called the Miami Ibiza and also one which just says hotel Miami, they look slightly different in the pictures, but I believe that they are both close to the beach. Am I right in thinking that these are seperate hotels or are they the same.
Thanks
keanda
Personally I haven't stayed at either but would find staying at the hotel ok but the pool area is very copact and you are like sardines.Other than that I cant really comment.
I can thoroughly recommend the Caribe in Es cana by the way.
Thanks for getting back to me. It appears on the accommodation sites as though it is two hotels and that is what is confusing me. The pictures of the bedrooms are different also. Can you tell me which hotels you stayed in when in Es Cana.
We are going out with my mum and sister and her son age 15 and then my husband myself and my two kids aged 14 and 11. Given the kids ages we felt that it would be better to go AI as they are continually asking for juices etc. Also would you say that es cana is suitable for kids of this age.
Thanks
Sorry I hadn't read your post correctly, I see that you have recommended the Caribe Hotel. I apologise.
The hotel is split into hotel and self catering apartments. The hotel is on the beach with the apartments behind.
I have been looking at a site findmeaccommodation.com though and it shows two different pictures, it shows different information and says that one is in playa es cana and the other in es cana but they give AI prices for both. The prices appear cheaper for AI in the one they say as Hotel Miami and it is more expensive for the Miami Ibiza. I am just a bit confused by it.

As far as I know I don't think the Miami does AI (I MAY BE WRONG)
The Miami consists of 2 identical white buildings in a v shape - hope this helps you identify the pictures
Is the site not http://www.findmeaccommodation.co.uk?
Google gives this as a site but I cant seem to log on
You are right the hotel is two identical buildings and they seem to be saying that it is called the Hotel Miami. In the picture for the Miami Ibiza it only shows a seating area ie possibly reception area. I think you and Glynis are correct they are the same hotel but I cant understand the difference in the cost. The reviews seem quite good fore for this hotel on this site but do not seem as favourable on one of the other review sites that I checked out.
Wayne you mentioned that Es Cana was a great resort do you think it is good for families with teenagers, are there many shops, restuarants, bars etc if the hotel entertainment was not up to much. Also is the beach nice.
Thanks
The site I have been looking at is findmeaccommodation.co.uk and when I tried to log on using mozilla thunderbird I was not able to do so. I did manage to log on through MSN but when I tried a second time it did not work.
I did phone them though and spoke to an operator who gave me costings etc.
Just out of curiousity I wondered if anyone else had used them to book accommodation and if so did everything go ok.
http://www.findmeaccom.com
not accomodation
prehaps that is the problem.
iv used the "accom" one twice. ibiza in june- no problems and im off to magaluf in oct with them again
good prices if you do your research on the hotels

Rather strange prices on there ie hotel Caribe Es Cana is cheaper for half board than b and b??The hotels do seem to repeat with different prices???
Yes I would say Es Cana is ideal for teenagers as it's only a small place and only 5 minutes to anywhere in the resort so you can give them freedom to go of and know that they are safe. There are lots of bars but they are not in your face if you know what I mean. The main place is Charlies - good entertainment on every night til about 12 30 then opens til 4 am with a disco, not that we stayed that late. Our 16 year old daughter made lots of friends in the hotel and had a fantastic time. When you thinking of going?
Methodman you are correct it is findmeaccom.com, it is the same website and I have just put it down incorrectly. I ended up phoning them yesterday for prices as the website definately seems to be a hit or a miss to log onto possibly a fault on there site or with my computor.

We are going out on the 13/10 which is the October school week in Scotland.
we have just come back from the miami.
I had a quick look at findmeaccom.com and both the pictures (the aerial view and the reception view) are both of the hotel miami (not the apartments) whcih are just next door.
The hotel does offer all inclusive. I could not see any pictures of the bedrooms but i don't know where you will all fit in the small bedrooms. we had 2 kids (6,& 7) sharing a room with us and it was very cramped, there are other types of rooms like the upgraded rooms which are exactly the same size of the normal rooms with the addition of a widescreen tv, laminate floorig and a fridge ( which is stocked to the rafters with drink, checked every day and not included in your all inclusive plan)
Personally I dont know what your teenage kids are going to do at night cause we found it very boring. also i hope kids are good swimmers cause the main pool is 7ft deep all over, there is no shallow bit to the larger pool except for it maybe being 6ft at the very edge (maybe about a foot in) and i am not exagerating! my hubby is 6ft 2" and if he stood on his tiptoes at the very edge of the pool next to the wall he could just about keep his face out of the water tiliting his head back. Pool area very very cramped and you will probably get to know your bed buddy on a personal level.
evening entertainment was ok, but it depends what you like. Weather is very poor in Ibiza. We had rain a few days and a few days of total dark cloud and lots of days with lots of cloud. my friend has just come back yesterday after a week and she said the same, weather not too good.
Hope this doesnt sound too negative for you. but i would definately look at the hotel reveiws. The hotel did have some good points. If i was looking to take my kids somewhere in 5 years time when they will be same age as yours, Es Cana is definately not somewhere i would think they would enjoy, or be entertained. Once round the shops and restaraunts and you have seen it all. Not a lot!
Sorry about the weather - we had some bad weather in August,it seems like they are having a pretty bad summer this year.Do you not think this affecting your negativity
Forgot to say that I agree with you about the pool area in the Miami,I personally cant stand being cramped around a pool terrace and so I would never go to this hotel.
We had a really bad time in ibiza but that is another story i wont get involved with. we "ended up" in this hotel.
the good points I found:
The childrens entertainers were good and were very friendly.
Plenty for the younger ones to do round the pool.
Football and childrens playground were mainly in the shade.
right on the beach.
Nice reception area
the bad points:
Pool very very cramped (but i dont think it will be half as bad in OCtober week)
Swimming pool itself because you could not touch the floor.
Jellyfish in the sea (literally hundreds of them even if you were paddling in at the shore in an inch of water) my nephew got stung.
drinks at the hotel are very expensive if you are not all inclusive
Could never get on a pc because all the bored teenagers were waiting at them to get on.
The teenagers that were in our hotel at the time seemed to either hang around where the pc's were for the internet, there was always loads waiting for a turn. or they hung around in the "games room" well i say games room i think there might of been 4 things that worked.
all I am saying is that I "personally" would not take my kids back when they are teens because there seemed as if there was nothing to entertain them. We took ours to the big inflatable slide (but i couldnt see teenagers wanting to do that). If you are paying for all inclusive i would begrudge going out every night and having to pay for drinks at a bar, but that is me and perhaps that is what you have to do when you have teenagers.
I will reply to this post in 6 years time and let you know where i went for my holidays with my teenagers.
Thanks for the reply. I booked the hotel on Thursday so we are just going to have to make the best of the situation. We booked 3 rooms, as I had seen on the hotel reviews that the rooms were quite small.
All 3 kids are excellent swimmers and as long as there is a pool they will be entertained during the day, we also tend to spend a lot of time on the beach, as we prefer that, we will take a bat and ball and a beachball etc and they will entertain themselves if necessary. The jelly fish are a bit of a concern though, just wondering if this is a fairly new thing to ibiza or are they more predominant at certain times of the year?
I have a few questions below and would really appreciate if you could give me your opinion on them:
What did you think of the food at the hotel?
Did you find that the entertainment team had a lot of activities going on during the day for adults and older kids?
Did they hotel bring in outside acts for the evening entertainment or was it all carried out by the entertainment team?
Also I didn't realise that you could get internet access at the hotel, this will delight my kids as they hate not being able to keep in touch and up to date with the gossip with their friends at home. Can you tell me how much they charge for the service as the internet is usually a cheaper option for keeping in touch?
We have gone all inclusive at the Miami, but I don't mind going out for a few drinks in the evening, as you don't have much else to spend your cash on and the cost of the hotel was very reasonable. We will definately try "Charlies Bar" the pub that Wayne mentioned. Also, because the resort is small, we can give the kids a bit more freedom to go out. We went to Magaluf last year in October and I definately would not have allowed them to go anywhere without us.
I think that you always take a gamble with the weather going somewhere like the Balerics in October, but, I would have been very dissapointed if I had gone on holiday in August and had poor weather like you did. That said I have been away to Majorca and Ibiza in October over the last two years and have always had good weather and that probably made a big difference to the holidays.
Many Thanks
Keanda
I will try to answer your questions.
Like I said everyone expects different things from a holiday.
I am a really fussy eater and if there are not chips on the menu or a nice soup i am really stuck for something to eat. there were only 2 days (only lunches) when i went into the restaurant and could not find anything to eat and had to get burger and chips from the snack bar (3 euro 50) most days i managed to get something. the food was ok. lots of veal and quite a bit of fish, and most lunches seem to expand into eveneing meal. but it was fine. there was show cooking every night, things like legs of pork and beef, fish. pasta nearly every night and they had a childrens section which had the pasta with the sauce in a separate container. hubby is a good eater and he would have liked to have seen more potatoe like boiled potatoe and more veg (but i wouldnt hehe just give me the chips!!). breakfast was the usual. boiled fried scrambled eggs, pancakes in the show cooking, tomatoes, sausage bacon etc, range of cereals, coco pops sugar puffs corn flakes. very nice.
entertainment seemed quite good during the day, activities like volleyball, football, shuffleboard, and various other games if you want to get involved.
evening entertainment was good most nights. we had a parrot show, magic show, dancers, african dancers, singers, quizes plus the usual hideous but essential bingo. it was ok. entertainments team did not put on any shows.
computers, like i said hard to get on to they were 1 euro for 10 mins and 2 euro for 20 mins. they had a few games loaded on to them, crazy taxi, fifa (or some football game) and 2 others i cant remember, they had msn. in the games room was a pool table, pinball, acouple of games .
dont worry about the jellyfish. as long as you are aware of them. you can usually see them. they tend to be worse late afternoon. everyone would stand at the shore trying to catch them. one thing you cannot miss is the fish. they are amazing. if you walk to to the otherside of the bay you can see them - loads of them. hubby used to go for a walk first thing and there were massive fish and people would feed them bread buns. it is a right sight. they also had motorised pedalo which were 20euro for 30mins, they were good fun. glass bottom boat was an anti climax, did not see a lot, you could see the bottom of the sea, just not a lot of fish, i think the jelly fish must have ate them all...........just kidding. just to the right of the bay are loads of rocks and lots of rock pools.
an umberalla and 2 beds were 10 euro 50. 3.50 each.
hope this helps. enjoy your holiday.
